Daily Inspiration: Meet Rachel Whitfield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Whitfield.

Rachel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always loved jewelry and the memories I attach to them, so I wanted to create something that would mean something to others. In college, I studied archeology and fell in love with ancient jewelry. I started creating with what I knew and just grew from there. Over time I found great creators and resources that helped me progress as a metalsmith.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely been a long road. Being a mother is a top priority and finding the time to learn the skills of metalwork has taken some time. Finding the strength to put myself out there was the hardest part but the best thing I have done yet. Once I did that my drive and creativity have been working together to create a loving business for myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a self-taught metalsmith and I work with precious metals, stones, and vintage materials. Creating jewelry pieces with an ancient influence that will last for many years to come. I really try to incorporate modern style with designs of the ancient past while using as much recycled metal as possible.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband has been a big supporter of mine. His encouragement and patience over the years enabled me to be where I am today. My children and close friends have been my biggest cheerleaders, and they make my heart soar every day. I am so humbled and thankful for all of the people I meet along the way at the events I attend. They make everything worthwhile and inspire my creativity.
