Daily Inspiration: Meet Ray Remington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Remington.

Ray, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
TheGathering.Co is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve always wanted to build a church gathering from the ground up. In my 20’s, I was on staff as a Worship Pastor and Leadership Consultant. I’ve worked in Monument, Colorado, Polson, Montana, Prescott, Arizona; and Sioux City, Iowa to name a few. Eventually, I wanted to do the artist thing and pursue Country Music which I did for a while.

Recently I finished some music at RCA Studios in Nashville with some of the best in Country Music. I’ve been lucky enough to have Magazines like American Songwriter, Country Music People Magazine, and many others cover my writing and recordings. The past few years, I’ve been closing a long chapter with divorce, and it led me in the opposite direction of Nashville. I have two wonderful Boys, and I wanted to be there for them as they grow up. I’ve had a lot of time to heal, reflect, get therapy, and over time, it has led me back to doing what I’ve always loved. And that’s leading worship and becoming a vital role in building a leadership team. In March of 2023, I made an announcement that we would be starting a church called the Gathering.Co. And here we are!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think we have a long road ahead of us. There is going to be a lot for me to learn. I’m going out on my own here, and luckily, I have people like Kim Bozzi from Massachusetts to come along and make this a reality. The road getting here was certainly not easy. I never thought I’d find myself returning to ministry. It feels different this time though. Hopefully wiser, careful, and enough heart to do this better than I have done in the past. I still enjoy performing and writing. I always will. What’s most important is knowing I have peace in my heart knowing my kids are near me, and we could build this thing together.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So, I am the Founding Executive Pastor of TheGathering.co church in North Carolina. I lead the music and write some of the music for the local church. I also create the strategies and vision to further the growth and identity of the church. I develop leadership, communication skills, graphic design, amongst other things.

I’m very proud that I get to do what I love. Being able to commit my time to the community to show that we are here for them. What sets me apart from others? I mean… I am as professional as I could be if that answers your question. I think what sets me apart from others is there is only one of me and one of you. We all bring different things to the table.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Well, I tend to be a country person. I like to live where no one can find me lol. But there is always a need for the city as well. People need to be invested into no matter where they’re from. There is a younger generation as well that I’d love to reach more of. The goal of TheGathering.Co is to see everyone in community together. No matter what your age is.
