Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Zavadzkas.
Hi Vanessa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi my name is Vanessa Zavadzkas. I started sewing for myself about a decade ago. Lots of companies back then sold suits as sets that could not be purchased separately. I started making things to make exact measurements rather than size chart appointed sizing. My suits stayed on during all the water sports that consumed my life everyday. Soon enough my friends started asking about my styles and fabrics and started ordering custom suits for themselves. I started BOCA to accompany water women in all stages in their lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I took my time sourcing the right fabric and artists to provide prints and shades of specific solids. There are small batch ready to ship pieces from time to time but we like to avoid large stock and only created as needed. Always learning and improving styles to perfect your days out in the water.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I sew reversible swimwear to client’s custom measurements. We talk about what water sport they are interested in and what style would fit best. You can modify any style to your liking and choose from a wide variety of fabrics.
How do you think about happiness?
Seeing a girl on an adventure in my suit is one of the most rewarding feelings. To know someone is packing a suit they rely on and choose is such an honor. Maybe I get most happy about the connections BOCA has led me to make. Women from all around the world and we are all connected by our love for the ocean. Knowing that I can offer a personalized experience in a world of fast fashion and big companies.
