Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Anthony.
Whitney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Film has always been a part of my life in one way or another. For starters, I used to document everything! Ask any of my friends from high school or college and they can tell you how annoying I was.
“Turn the camera off, Whitney!” Or “You better not be filming this!” are phrases I heard more times than I can count growing up. (But like any good director knows, you always keep the camera rolling.)
I actually spent most of my time in front of the camera, and on the stage, as a singer/songwriter and actress. Performing was (and probably always will be) a huge part of my identity.
I graduated from UNC-CH (Go Heels!) with a major in Communication and Performance Studies and a minor in Cinema Studies.
Eventually, I found myself craving more stability than the life of a performer offers, so I moved home from Los Angeles, got my Real Estate License, and began working in Commercial Real Estate in 2014.
Pretty soon, I found myself making a lot of videos for not only my own clients but for other brokers’ clients, as well. So I founded my video production company, VOW Creative, LLC in 2015.
Fast forward to Fall 2019, when I took the leap of faith to make VOW Creative my full-time job and focus on building the company.
Turns out, word travels fast and thanks to covid and the hyper-demand for digital content, VOW Creative has had incredible growth!
It seems I’ve found my way back into the entertainment industry (albeit on the marketing side of it). A field I know so well and love so much remains a part of me after all. If you’re still reading, I’ll end with this: Life is FULL of twists and turns. The best we can do is enjoy the ride.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I didn’t anticipate the surge of business that would come my way when I first opened up to the public. The response was incredible, beautiful, and overwhelming. The first year full-time in this business was like a roller coaster in many ways, with highs and lows. I took time over the holidays (Christmas and New Years) to restructure the business plan and began to implement new processes and systems, which have allowed the business to run much more smoothly since then.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re known for our social media-optimized real estate marketing videos. But we also manage social media pages for other industry professionals. We curate content and establish the voice of brands through our original, strategic, and thoughtful copy.
I love helping other companies grow and seeing other people realize their business dreams. I feel blessed that I’m able to use my talents, gifts, and experiences to play such a crucial role in the professional development of others and our community. I help people to define their story and then, I tell it for them. How freaking cool of a job is that?!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I was on the one and only season of American Idol Jr. I “made it to Hollywood!” I was in 8th grade at the time, and it was a riot.
I also won a national poetry competition in 7th grade and was published in an “Upcoming Poets” book. That was pretty special, too.
