EJ Faulcon of RDU on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to EJ Faulcon. Check out our conversation below.

EJ, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I believe it’s a combination of both. The ultimate goal will always remain the same, and I see that as being predestined by God. But the path in between is shaped by the choices we make along the journey. For me, I follow a personal code and routine that keeps me aligned, so in many ways I feel I’m both guided by destiny and actively walking the path laid out before me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ej Faulcon, and I am the Founder of Doublexxstudios, a clothing brand rooted in streetwear. What sets us apart isn’t just the designs—it’s the message behind them. Our slogan, “Control Your Own Destiny,” has always felt like a portal for me, and I aim to pass that same energy and belief on to the youth. Growing up in an environment where resources were limited, I know how powerful it can be to carry a vision larger than your circumstances. Through Doublexxstudios, I want to help inspire and eventually create real change.

Right now, we’re preparing for our FW26’ release(s)—still deciding between one major drop or a series of smaller capsules. On top of that, we’re excited to be featured in a New York Fashion Week pop-up shop, which is a huge milestone for us.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Definitely my mom. She’s always believed in me and pushed me in everything I’ve done. Even now, she still keeps me on track. Honestly, if it weren’t for her, I don’t think I’d have the same confidence in what I’m doing today. Funny enough, she once sat me down and gave me my very first “official interview.” And then, ironically, you guys reached out the following week for my first real feature. The universe really has a funny way of working sometimes.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Like anyone else, the fear of failure has definitely held me back at times. I think we all get so caught up in trying to make the “right” move that we end up not moving at all. I’ve been a victim of that mindset—but I’d say I’m recovering. Every day I’m growing, evolving, and learning to push past it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say I value growth and family the most. For me, growth means evolving in every aspect—mentally, physically, and spiritually. No one’s perfect, but I believe the goal should always be to become the best version of yourself. At least, that’s what I strive for every day—even if not everyone chooses that path.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I genuinely believe I was meant to be in this position at this point in time. There were plenty of other things I thought I wanted to be—like most kids, I had hoop dreams, and at one point I even wanted to be a pharmacist. But I think God had other plans for me. I’ve always been drawn to clothes and shoes since I was a kid, and my environment definitely played a role in shaping that. Growing up surrounded by sneakers and hip hop culture, it just felt natural that I’d gravitate toward it.
