Exploring Life & Business with Alex Dixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Dixon.

Hi Alex, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started Real Estate in 2020. I’ve always had a desire to become a real estate agent since my sophomore year in high school. Once I got my first car, I would drive to luxury neighborhoods in Charlotte just to admire the homes. After a little discouragement of the market back then, I opted to go to college and obtain my bachelor’s degree in Biology and later master’s degree in Healthcare Administration.

After working 10+ years in the healthcare industry, I still had that longing to enter the world of real estate. I took time building my business relationships, building my brand, and social media platform. I learned who I wanted to market to and began to help families purchase their homes!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth at all! In 2019, I took the course and failed. I lost three family members while taking the course, which threw my focus completely off. I was determined not to give up so I retook the course and passed.
In February 2020, I signed on with my brokerage eXp Realty, LLC and the pandemic hit. The pandemic caused a major shift in the industry which forced me to bring out my inner hustle!

Being a Realtor is not an easy job! The job is not just dressing in fancy clothes, taking photos, and showing beautiful houses. You are an independent contractor, so your production is solely based on how much work you put in.

I would like to add if you are Realtor and your business made it through the pandemic, Congratulations to you! Although many curve balls came my way, I still had the drive to keep pushing because my purpose was bigger.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a Realtor serving the Raleigh/Durham, Charlotte, and surrounding areas. The thing that sets me apart from others is my determination. It may sound cliche, but my determination brings out the best in me. I am very competitive, and I do not like losing so I apply that energy into my real estate business. When my clients win, I win!
In fact, I recently gave birth to my second beautiful baby girl, and I was writing offers through labor and delivery! I enjoy listing homes, but I am a buyer’s agent at heart! I’m most proud of being able to help people buy homes who didn’t believe they could own a home. I enjoy making the process as smooth and as less stressful as can be for my clients.

Real estate is ever-changing and as the market shifts so will I. I’m also a real estate investor. I educate my clients on how they can leverage the equity in their homes to purchase investment properties!

How do you define success?
Success to me is defined as your ability to accomplish anything important to you. Only you can determine your success because it’s personally a vision and goals you set for yourself. Even if you fail, you were successful at trying!
