Hi Amy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in a strict, lower-middle-class household. My mom would go from store to store to find the best deals on essentials like cheese ends and other groceries. Dinner often meant spam or canned tuna with rice and mayo. Life was challenging; my birth father struggled with alcohol and was abusive, so my mom made the difficult choice to leave for our safety, even though her parents disapproved. We were on our own.

Growing up in an environment where things felt strict and where nothing seemed good enough instilled in me the drive to succeed. Later, when my mom remarried, my parents taught me a valuable lesson: “No” doesn’t mean “never”; it just means “not right now.” The combination of wanting to prove myself, along with my tenacity, loyalty, and commitment, paved the way for success in my early career and, later, in the mortgage business.

In the mortgage industry, I found a unique ability to see the big picture of a person’s finances and identify ways to simplify their journey. My life experiences help me truly understand people’s challenges, making it possible for me to empathize deeply with clients. That understanding fuels my passion to inspire and support those looking to finance a home or investment property, knowing firsthand the impact of how real estate can affect someone’s financial well being.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been anything but smooth, and for a long time, I looked outward for answers, only to realize that so much of what I needed was already within me. America is an incredible country, where anyone can pursue their dreams and find success if they’re willing to put in the hard work. Failure isn’t about NOT falling down; it’s about choosing to rise each time we do. Yoga training and teaching, along with our farm, have opened countless opportunities to give back and support others in meaningful ways. Living in a place where we can embrace our passions, grow, and make a positive impact in our community is something I’m truly grateful for.
