Hi Anna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Anna. I’m proud, and very blessed, to be the small business owner of PetWise Professionals.
As an avid pet lover from a young age, I’m fortunate enough to say that I can’t remember a time without pets in my life. Pets are family, and our household simply wouldn’t be complete without them.
My love of animals first led me to a degree within Biology. Afterwards I spent several years working within the pet industry, in a leadership role. This experience, coupled with my ever growing passion for pets, ultimately lead me to enact my vision of providing the Pines with quality in-home pet care. Over the years, including more than 15 years of care experience, my passion for animals has grown into a passion for providing a high-quality standard of pet care for those within Moore and Cumberland Counties.
As a Moore County native, I have a strong connection with our small hometown. I grew up watching Moore County grow, and I am excited to continue growing with our community. I’m proud to now lead an amazing team of pet care professionals, and I am excited to be able to welcome new pets into our PetWise Professionals family every day!

PetWise Professionals (previously Your Pet Care Connection LLC) was founded, by owner and operator Anna Vermeulen, in 2017. For Anna, PetWise Professionals (PWP) began with a goal of providing herself with a meaningful new career, while allowing her the flexibility of supporting herself and her children.
As a Moore County NC native, and long-term pet enthusiast, Anna identified a local need for professional pet caregivers within her community. Influenced by her biology background, as well as her prior years of experience working within the pet industry, she sought to provide services with a strong emphasis on “stress-free in-home pet care”. With this vision in mind, Anna embarked on a small business venture to fulfill that need. Thus began PWP’s journey, of fulfilling her mission to “Connect Pet Parents With Quality Care, For A Well-Rounded Pet”.
Over the next two years PWP was blessed with growth; And, upon the birth of Anna’s second child, the business began to hire its first employees in 2019. The rest, as they say, is history.
Today, PetWise Professionals and its staff continue to embody the same principles upon which it was once founded. With a strong focus on family, ethics, fair wages, quality small business principles, and unparalleled quality pet care, PWP strives towards a better tomorrow for all of its clients and employees each and every day.
Through the years Anna has remained working, as owner and Pack Leader, at PWP along with a fantastic team of pet care professionals. She and her team work diligently each day, to continue to realize her dream of providing Moore County’s pet parents with professional pet care, right at home. Because, when it comes to your pets, truly “There’s No Place Like In-Home”.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Small business, just like learning, is a cursive word! It has plenty of ups and downs.
Starting a small business has been no exception, especially so in our most formative years. With the immense foresight to establish YPCC (now PetWise Professionals) in 2017 (full sarcasm intended), we’ve seen a thing or two. But we’re also proud to say we’ve weathered turbulent times, such as the Covid-19 outbreak, right out of the gate. Suffice to say we know a bit about trials and tribulations ;).
As a fledgling business, PetWise Professionals was a solo-sitter venture with myself as spearhead for services, advertising, social, and more. Though trial and error, a tremendous amount of caffeine, and plenty late-nights spent up scheming up fresh new ideas to further the business, we’re beyond grateful to have grown into the team we are today.
We are tremendously blessed to have grown within the area, and industry, over the years. Something that we truly could not have accomplished without the integral support of our clients and staff.

Through our developmental years, our PetWise Pros assisted in our structural development through feedback and communication. In our growth, our PetWise Pros continue to bolster us through flexibility, understanding, and team collaboration, to best support our client’s varying needs.
Our office staff is no exception. Katana Lemelin, our current Office and Field Lead, is one such tremendous example. Through her leadership skills, artistic talent, and marketing prowess, she’s been a tremendous asset in our most recent developments.
