Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my business 10 years ago hand making choker necklaces. The brand has now grown to a full line women’s boutique with 10 shoppable locations across NC & east TN. I took risk after risk to grow the business from chokers to a full line women’s brand.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In my newly released book, Let Your Light Shine, that tells my entire journey there is a chapter named: “The Struggles Are Real”. In that chapter I talk about loneliness in entrepreneurship, extreme exhaustion, comparison, and scalability. It definitely hasn’t always been easy.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Illume Boutique is a brand of women’s clothing boutiques with a boho, trendy, ultra-girlie vibe. There are locations across NC and TN within mercantile marketplaces. We are a give back brand and strive to shine a light in dark places. We host fundraisers for non profits and sororities. We award a $1,000 scholarship every year. This year we are starting our own women’s conference and Let Your Light Shine Summit to celebrate our 10 years of Illume Boutique.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I recently wrote a book to celebrate the journey of Illume Boutique. The name of the book is Let Your Light Shine. To inspire others to chase their dreams.
