Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryn Banks.
Hi Bryn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I joined the military right out of high school and served with the 10th Mountain Division. When I got out, I went to work for my father-in-law in construction, where I really learned the trade hands-on. After a couple of years, I knew I wanted to build something of my own, but it wasn’t easy at first—just married, a child on the way, and the uncertainty of stepping out on my own. For a while I bounced between trying to run my own company and working for friends. The turning point was when a mentor told me, ‘You can make more money by working longer hours, otherwise you’re capped.’ That stuck with me. I realized the only way to create real growth and freedom was to go all-in on building my own company.
That’s when I committed fully to Pro 163 Construction. My goal has always been to grow it into a company known for quality and integrity, and eventually something I can pass down to my kids. For me, there’s no going back and no relying on others for work—I’m building something lasting.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first stepped out on my own, the biggest challenges were financial pressure and uncertainty. I had just gotten married, we had a baby on the way, and every decision felt high-stakes. There were times I went back and forth between running my own jobs and working for friends just to make ends meet.
On top of that, learning how to price jobs correctly, manage cash flow, and balance the day-to-day work with growing the business was tough. It felt like I was wearing every hat at once—sales, project manager, laborer, and bookkeeper. But those struggles forced me to sharpen my skills, build systems, and develop the persistence to push through. Looking back, the obstacles have really shaped the way I run the company today.
We’ve been impressed with Pro 163 Construction, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Pro 163 Construction, we’re a residential general contracting company that specializes in high-end remodels, custom decks, and home transformations. We’re known for our attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to take a client’s vision and turn it into something they can be proud of for years to come.
What really sets us apart is our approach—we’re not just trying to be the cheapest option, we focus on quality, transparency, and building trust. Our clients know that when they hire us, they’re getting craftsmanship that lasts, clear communication, and a team that treats their home like it’s our own.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that people in our community recognize Pro 163 as a company that stands for integrity and excellence. For us, every project is about more than just construction—it’s about creating spaces where families can build memories. And long-term, my vision is to grow Pro 163 into the top general contractor in our area, while keeping that same high-touch, personal level of service that we started with.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that consistency beats everything. In the beginning, I thought success was about big breaks or landing that one perfect job. But I’ve realized it’s about showing up every day, doing quality work, and building trust one project at a time.
I’ve also learned that you can’t grow a company alone—you need systems, the right people around you, and the discipline to step back and think like an owner, not just a worker. That shift in mindset has been huge for me. At the end of the day, if you’re honest, reliable, and committed to delivering on your promises, the business will grow.
