Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Miller.
Hi Carolyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Carolyn Miller, LCSW, is a Master’s level social worker, published author, and the visionary founder of The Healing Point PLLC in Wilmington, North Carolina. With a deep commitment to trauma-informed care, Carolyn has dedicated her career to creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and safe enough to begin their healing journeys.
At The Healing Point, Carolyn has built more than a mental health practice—she has nurtured a community rooted in the belief that healing unfolds when people are given the freedom to show up as their authentic selves. Guided by the principle that “we believe in the transformative power of holding space for healing,” Carolyn and her team invite individuals to connect with their own stories, foster resilience, and discover new pathways toward growth.
Her vision goes beyond the walls of therapy. The Healing Point is a place where diverse experiences and perspectives are honored, where education and resources are shared freely, and where empathetic guidance empowers each person to take meaningful steps toward self-discovery. As both a clinician and a leader, Carolyn brings warmth, wisdom, and hope to every encounter—reminding others that healing is not only possible, but that it can be profoundly life-changing when shared within a compassionate and inclusive community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road, necessarily. Policies for healthcare and specifically mental healthcare in this day and age are not as advanced as one might expect – or wish – them to be. Carolyn has battled various challenges as an advocate for her clients. in the face of their adversities, often facing adversities of her own, in order to overcome and reach the point where she is at today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Healing Point?
At The Healing Point, our core mission is to cultivate a compassionate, trauma-informed space where individuals, couples, and families can explore their healing journeys with authenticity, safety, and support. We believe in the transformative power of holding space—for healing to happen when people feel seen, heard, and valued. The Healing Point

What We Do & What We Specialize In
Therapy & Brainspotting: We provide psychotherapy as well as specialized treatments like Brainspotting and Vergence Therapy which help address trauma, anxiety, depression, and dysregulation by working with how the brain stores unprocessed or “frozen” parts of difficult experiences.
Trauma Recovery: Much of our work is trauma-focused—helping clients heal from PTSD, covert narcissism, chronic stress, relational trauma, and other past hurts.
Inclusive & Holistic Mental Health Care: We are intentional about inclusion—welcoming diverse backgrounds, perspectives, identities. We support not only mental and emotional well-being, but also pay attention to how healing connects with physical, relational, and spiritual health.
Flexibility in Service Delivery: We offer services both via telehealth (North Carolina & Florida) and in-person where possible. Also, we do things like walk therapy sessions when appropriate, recognizing that healing happens in more than just an office chair.
Support Beyond Therapy: In addition to one-on-one psychological work, we offer coaching, clinical supervision, and are developing more accessible tools—like a mobile app—for trauma recovery that include resources, exercises, video content, and community support.
What Sets Us Apart
Our leader, Carolyn Miller, LCSW, brings extensive experience—not only in private practice but also working in schools, court systems, inpatient psychiatric settings, and in advocacy roles. She’s certified in trauma informed care and Brainspotting, which gives a depth of clinical tools combined with real-world understanding.
We operate with the philosophy that healing is relational and participatory: people are not passive in their process, but partners in the work. We share tools and strategies clients can use between sessions, helping generate shifts more quickly and sustainably.
Our commitment to accessibility and innovation: telehealth, walk-therapy, app development, flexible scheduling—all of these are part of how we meet people where they are.
What We’re Most Proud Of, Brand-Wise
That we’ve built a trustworthy space where complex, often painful experiences (trauma, covert narcissism, anxiety, depression) are treated with humility, competence, and compassion.
That our approach is grounded in evidence-based modalities but also deeply human—recognizing the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
That we are expanding what mental health support looks like—not just therapy sessions, but community, education, tools, and broader access.
What We Want Readers to Know
If you or someone you care about is navigating past hurts, trauma, anxiety, or emotional health challenges, The Healing Point is a place where you can expect:
A practitioner who listens deeply, who values your lived experience, and works collaboratively with you.
Practical tools and strategies, not just talk—ways to take healing into everyday life.
Flexibility—options for telehealth and in-person work, and creative approaches like walk therapy.
An environment that honors your identity, your struggles, your pace.
We’re here not just to support people in surviving—but in reclaiming strength, growth, connection, and a sense of purpose. Healing is possible—especially when held in community, with intention, respect, and care.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
