Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheri Brice.
Hi Cheri, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I suffered from horrible acne and scarring. My skin was so sensitive that nothing over the counter was gentle enough and the medicines provided by my dermatologist were too harsh and seemed to make things worse. I struggled with this same cycle well into my 20s.
Around 2013, I was dealing with some medical issues and was unable to work and spent most of my time at home watching TV or YouTube. That’s where I discovered my love for makeup and skincare in general. Fast forward a few years, I finally decided to go to school to learn more about makeup and skin and became a licensed esthetician in 2018. When I decided to start my own skincare brand, I knew I wanted to stay away from a bunch of chemicals.
We’re always thinking about staying physically healthy and watching what we eat and drink but how often do you think about the lotions, cleansers, and creams that you’re putting on your body? Those too eventually make their way into your bloodstream and I wanted to make sure everything I created was not only gentle and good for the skin but also good for the body and environment.
In the summer of 2019, Cheri Amour Cosmetics was created. We started with a lineup of 11 products, since then we have expanded to over 30 products. I currently formulate, test, create, package, and ship every single item I sell myself.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
This journey has had many ups and downs. The first year, I really had no idea what I was doing. I was relying on word of mouth and vendor events only to get my name out there so sales were steady but not great.
Then the pandemic hit and I was afraid my sales were going to tank, however, the first year they did the complete opposite and tripled from the previous year. With people being home more and having more time to focus on themselves and their self-care routines, sales shot up.
We’re now at a point of trying to find a sweet spot in marketing to continue bringing in new customers. Our current customer base is really solid but we still struggle with bringing in new business consistently.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Cheri Amour Cosmetics is an all-natural, small-batch, handmade face, and body cares brand.
We specialize in solutions for all skin types and situations. All of our products are made with natural ingredients and are safe for the whole family. We started with just a Lavender Facial Oil and Beard Oil and they still continue to be our best sellers today.
My goal was to create easy-to-use, affordable, natural products that the whole family can use. We now have a line of over 30 products that include a full men’s line of products.
