Exploring Life & Business with Christa Carter of Stay Curious Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christa Carter.

Hi Christa , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey with curiosity on the practice of yoga. Sometime in 2014, I opened up my experience to just try a yoga class. I was looking for a way to move my body, but I had never thought of trying a yoga practice. I stuck to the practice for about a week, and grew to really enjoy the experience. I kept a steady home practice, and around 2020 at the start of a career change, I decided to pursue yoga teacher certification. My entry point started with kid’s yoga certification, and then as I was opening up pursuits, I continued studies for adult yoga teacher training. Going through the training, my eyes were opened to the depth and transformative history behind the practice of yoga. The yogic tradition, is rich and full of insight to help us in our lived experience. As I grew, to love the roots, history, and healing power of yoga, I decided to pursue Yoga Therapy certification. In 2025, I completed a 2 year program to become a certified Yoga Therapist! I started my business Stay Curious Yoga right along with getting my certification and training. My hope as a yoga therapist is to allow others to experience how transformative the practices of yoga can be. The practices are accessible, and I hope to offer them in such a way that people feel empowered to learn more about themselves and discover their path towards health and wellbeing. Soon, after completing my Yoga Therapy certification, I found out I was pregnant! This has definitely caused me to slow down the process, and growth of offering yoga therapy. However, slow and steady, I am still pursing offering yoga therapy to others.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve struggled with how to build a business that isn’t centered on typical principles of success. Though I wish to experience financial success, I don’t want to pursue that by compromising what I value. I haven’t entered the yoga, health and wellness space to elevate myself. I want my success to be in conjunction with the success of others. It’s required me to be creative in how I offer my services and think about building my business from the ground up.
Also, this year, right as I was planning to focus on building my business, I found out I was pregnant. Instead of just starting and growing a business, I’ve been trying to grow a little human. It’s been teaching me to really embody what I want to offer to others.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Stay Curious Yoga?
Stay Curious Yoga, offers yoga therapy services. Yoga therapy uses the principles and techniques found within yoga to determine which practices can be specifically applied to a client. Techniques include yoga postures, breath work and practices of mindfulness and meditation. With each of the practices, I aim to make them accessible, so that a client leaves empowered to integrate the practices into their daily lives. In this client centered approach, we collaborate to determine what would be helpful to produce well being and balance in the lived experience.
My brand is to facilitate loving kindness and curiosity both on the yoga mat and off the yoga mat.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My childhood was filled with laughter. It’s something that I don’t take for granted. When I recall my childhood, I just enjoy the fact that we laughed together. It’s taught me to try and find joy and humor in life.
