Exploring Life & Business with Christine Veit of Earth Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Veit.

Hi Christine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory. 
Ever since my first yoga class, I always knew I wanted to teach. Right when I became a yoga teacher, my dream grew with me; I knew I had to open a healing center. Earth Yoga was born of the roots of North Carolina. While my dream to open a yoga studio had started when I lived in Chicago, I really got serious about outdoor yoga events and classes during the pandemic. With little to nothing to start off with but a speaker and a few extra yoga mats, I began to grow a community that outspread across the entire Triangle Area. With lots of continual planning, I never truly felt ready to open an actual space. This was not the type of career path my peers were entering. One day, after many days of looking at open spaces that had potential to be a beautiful studio, I came across a small space that was a Karate studio. I felt something in there, and I knew that I needed to open my center in this space. The response has been incredible…the town of Hillsborough has also said that they were wishing for a yoga studio in their town. I couldn’t be happier with the grassroots community that we are building, practice after practice. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! The challenges start right away. I have taught myself everything about business and essentially knew very little until about one year ago. With trying to open the right business accounts, to almost losing the lease of the building because of my youth, to hiring and letting people go and figuring out a new language (of business terms) along the way, this journey has been anything but smooth. I feel prepared for the ride and enjoy it, but the highs and lows can be taxing. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Earth Yoga is a healing center for all things yoga, spirituality, astrology, tarot, meditation, and reiki healing. Our mission is to be as accessible to all as we possibly can and to sustain our business for a lifetime. This means that we don’t have a hierarchy of poses that we teach, and we strive to make each student feel comfortable no matter where they are at in their journey. Because of our connection with yoga and healing and the spiritual realm, we attract a tribe that is diverse, caring, and responsive to learning new things.
