Hi Dannesia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
In 2017, my husband and I started an over-the-road trucking business. There were not many resources or tools to help aspiring entrepreneurs or current business owners navigate the trucking industry. We grew our trucking business through trial and error. When I noticed other individuals getting into the industry, I wanted to help them navigate the trucking industry seamlessly. I did not want business owners to make the same mistakes we did. We have made some costly mistakes. That is why I birthed Pullen Logistics. Pullen Logistics is a freight brokerage and consulting firm. We specialize in being a one-stop shop for aspiring and current business owners. Helping them navigate the trucking industry seamlessly. If you need freight, I got you. If you need help registering your trucking business, I got you; if you need freight dispatcher training, I got you. If you need help with government contracting and certifications, I got you. The world of trucking is endless. There are many opportunities within the industry, and you can survive when you have the right team, tools, and resources at hand. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a business takes great courage and discipline. The road has not been smooth. However, it has been worth it. One of my biggest obstacles when I first launched Pullen Logistics was building a book of business. As a freight broker, if you cannot land a customer, you cannot broker freight. In turn, you will not make any money. I did not land a customer for 4 months. I called 100 customers a day, sent flyers in the mail, emailed prospects, and asked for leads within my network. At times, I wanted to give up. I wanted quick results. As soon as I landed my first customer, I knew all that hard work was worth it.

My team and I have over 18 years of experience helping business owners start, grow, and scale their businesses. We are dedicated to helping our clients thrive and succeed. We are also dedicated to ensuring our shipments arrive at their destination safely.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has not played a role in my life or business. God has ordered my footsteps, and I rely on his guidance throughout my business. One thing that has taken my business to the next level is diversification and taping into government contracting. Government contracting opened my business and my clients up to new opportunities. One of my clients has won over $8 million in government contracts.
