Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Linda Jordon of LRJ Coaching & Business Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Linda Jordon. 

Hi Dr. Jordon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my professional journey in 1988 when I started my first corporate position where I worked for 27.5 years. During my time in corporate, I held many positions starting from entry-level to Senior Leadership. I made a decision to take early retirement when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. I started my business after my cancer diagnosis because I wanted to focus on my health, and I knew that I couldn’t continue to work 60 hours per week while healing. I had a very demanding position and taking more time off from work wasn’t an option. LRJ Coaching & Business Solutions, LLC came about as a result of being a coach and change agent in corporate. I enjoyed coaching others and helping them plan and succeed their goals and objectives. Staring a coaching and training business was the perfect solution for me. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Entrepreneurship hasn’t been a smooth ride…several bumps along the way. One of my biggest struggles was creating capital. So, I went the old fashion way and funded my business with bootstrapping. Because I am a real estate investor, I have the ability to use funds to help fund my coaching & training business. 

Another struggle with my business was recognizing that I needed help in marketing and generating leads. I am not the best person for marketing, so I had to consider my next step. My main struggle was to give someone else the reins/power to do work for me which was a struggle for me. I ended up hiring a coach and joined a coaching program to help me with my business model, establishing my marketing needs, and working on how to generate leads for the business.

LRJ Coaching & Business Solutions, LLC is a business consulting & personal development, and leadership training program. The organization focuses on business building, leadership, diversity and inclusion, and organizational change management. Dr. Linda R Jordon has over 30 years of experience in operations management, leadership development & training, leadership coaching, business process improvement, diversity and inclusion, contact center development & management, organizational development, and training within the U.S. and abroad. 

The organization also supports companies in facilitating diversity and inclusion training, leadership assessments (DISC, MBTI, EQ), harassment training, and employee engagement surveys. 

LRJ Coaching & Business Solutions LLC is an active member of our 2 local organizations: Chamber of Commerce in Granville County and Chamber of Commerce in Vance County. 

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband, James, and my daughter, Jaimie, are my biggest fans. They supports my efforts in all that I do to serve others and my community. I also have support from my longtime friend, colleague, and coach, Charlotte Purvis. Charlotte is the one that I can call anytime for support or to make sure I am thinking straight. I also have support from the many women and men that are a part of networking groups that I participate in.
