Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! Well, my name is Hailey Domian. I am 22 years old and the owner of Overly Organized, a small business that specializes in professional home organization. I attended University of North Carolina – Charlotte to maintain my degree in Elementary Education with a minor in ECON. Honestly, I always dreamed of being a teacher until I actually got into a classroom for student teaching and saw how overwhelmed and underappreciated all the teachers were. So instead, I continued to work as a professional nanny until I found a new path for myself. When I was a professional nanny, I realized I was very good at organizing. I never thought anything of it until one of my nanny’s family members mentioned that I should make a business out of it after I organized their home during a move. So, I did just that, and it took off from there. I pride myself on offering affordable home organization services with specials for single parents of children as well. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The hardest thing has been my age. A lot of clientele doubt my abilities, given that I am only 22 years old. Honestly, I understand why they do it because I am young, but in retrospect, organizing is something some people can do amazingly or something that does not come naturally to them at all. But once I prove myself to my clients, they never look for another organizer because while I am young, I have a lot of drive and am very efficient at what I do. But if the only thing I have to complain about is clients worrying about my age, then I would say it has been pretty smooth overall. When it came to starting out a lot of my babysitting/nanny families hired me and recommended me to their friends and on and on.

Overly Organized is a professional home organization company that specializes in affordable home organizing. Our prices tend to set us apart from our competitors, also the fact that we will not force extra bins or organizing materials if they do not fit into your budget. We are proud to offer specials for single parents or extremely busy parents because being a former nanny I understand how difficult it can be to keep your home organized while raising children. We also offer a subscription service where our clients can sign up for so that we come back to reorganize those areas once a week or once a month so that your space stays organized. Within our subscription service, we even offer to put away your clean laundry back into your organized closet or dresser so you do not have to worry about putting it back the same exact way which many of our clients love. We also are adding a new organizing service on which is our Nesting Organization service which means if you are a soon-to-be parent, then you can hire us to organize your nursery for your soon-to-be baby. 

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
My major risk was starting the business in general given that I am only 22 years old with no professional experience in the field at all. It took having my clients review their friends for my business to really take off. Without my supportive clients, I would not be where I am today. To start a new organizing business, it does not take a lot of money to start out as it would be another small business which was the part that made me not as apprehensive about it all. But let’s be honest, starting a new adventure is always scary and there will always be some doubt, but in the end, it was worth it.
