Hi Imani, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
About the CEO My name is Imani Winfield, and I am the CEO/Founder of The Perfect Touch Branding. I am 28 years old and from Greenville, North Carolina. I am an alumni of North Carolina Central University, majoring in Business Administration. I always knew that I wanted to be the owner of a business. I didn’t know what. Though I have no children of my own, my family and desire for freedom are what keep me motivated and going strong. In 2006 I started creating Myspace layouts and fun pictures for social media friends. Little did I know, I was unknowingly coding like a website developer and designing like a graphic designer.
How we started the business:
In 2015, I had a bright idea to merge my graphic design skills with Business cards and T-shirt printing, so I launched a custom printing business! This was a hit! During this venture, most customers were business owners, and I found a newfound love of using my acquired skills to help entrepreneurs grow and develop their businesses. I backed away from custom printing and focused on graphic designing. Graphic designing helped over 2,000 aspiring or beginner entrepreneurs start their businesses.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship presents many challenges, so it is not a smooth road but very well worth it. From doing everything alone, growing a team, balancing books, marketing and promotion, testing products and vendors, and having superb customer service to dealing with daily life challenges, it gets tough! Starting, I had no guidance in business other than what I was taught in school. I also had no help; it was just me doing everything alone. I soon realized help is necessary to elevate and grow your business. Mistakes had to be made to be taught how to be a great business owner/business. An example of challenges faced was finding our niche, finding what was our specialty, and sticking with it—also positioning our brand in the correct market in front of the right target audience.
