Today we’d like to introduce you to JoMuriel Allen.

Hi JoMuriel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey started as a passion project rooted in my love for all things hair. I’ve always been deeply interested in hair care and beauty, but I often found it difficult to find products that truly matched what I was looking for. That challenge pushed me to begin creating something of my own.
What started as a personal need quickly grew into something more intentional—a brand built from creativity, curiosity, and a desire to offer something I felt was missing in the market.
Today, I still approach my entrepreneurial journey with that same mindset. I treat my business as a passion project first, and I’m very intentional about when and how I work on it. I choose to only engage with my brand when I’m in a creative, motivated space, because I believe the energy behind what you create matters just as much as the product itself. I want everything I put into my business to come from a place of purpose, clarity, and good energy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Building a brand during the COVID era came with a unique set of challenges, from limited resources and supply chain disruptions to navigating an unpredictable business environment while trying to establish a foundation.
As the business has grown, I’ve also had to adapt to shifts in the market, including rising costs and the impact of tariffs, which have directly affected sourcing and pricing. Learning to stay flexible, make strategic adjustments, and still maintain the quality and integrity of my brand has been a major part of the journey.
Despite these challenges, each obstacle has pushed me to become more resilient, resourceful, and intentional in how I operate and grow the business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What began as a creative outlet has evolved into a brand built on intention, authenticity, and purpose.
My brand specializes in hair and beauty solutions centered around quality, accessibility, and representation. I’m known for creating with intention and being very selective about when and how I engage with my business—ensuring that anything I put out is aligned with creativity, clarity, and good energy.
What sets my brand apart is its strong commitment to representation, especially for Black women and HBCU communities. From the beginning, I’ve made it a priority to use my platform to uplift and invest back into those communities. One of the things I’m most proud of is building scholarship initiatives through my brand, which allow me to directly support education and opportunity for young Black girls.
As I continue to grow and evolve, I’m currently in the process of revamping the brand with fresh ideas, expanded offerings, and an even stronger focus on impact. Stay tuned—there’s much more to come.
