Exploring Life & Business with Karen Williams of Rejuvenate Med Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Williams. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Karen Williams, Nurse Practitioner Karen was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia. She graduated as an associate degree nurse in 1998 from Wytheville Community College. As a Registered Nurse, she worked as a staff and travel nurse in Labor and Delivery, Post-Partum, and Newborn Nursery for 10 years where her interests in women’s health and hormones got its start. In 2008, she was offered a position in a new Pain Management clinic for the Navy treating Wounded Warriors with complex chronic pain. This venture led to the introduction of needle-based procedures, Botox, use of electrical current, and lasers to treat pain and furthered the interest into aesthetics. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing during this period from University of Phoenix. In 2021, she graduated from South University with her Master of Sciences in Nursing then became a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). 

Always having a passion to work in aesthetics to assist clients in their personal aesthetic goals Karen attended the National Laser Institutes laser, Botox, and dermal filler trainings in 2017. She has continued her training with Empire Medical Training, including 24 different aesthetic trainings and additional training on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy with Dr. Kent Grotefendt in Chattanooga, TN. 

Vision 

The goal for Rejuvenate Med Spa is to offer a wide selection of high-quality aesthetic treatments in a warm comfortable setting. Providing a customized approach for each client based on rejuvenating, restoring, and/or prevention to reach their aesthetic goals. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of the struggles include building clientele in a small town. Advertising is very expensive, and reaching enough people has been difficult. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We offer a comprehensive range of aesthetic services, including injectables (Botox and fillers); laser skin resurfacing targeting color correction for reds (rosacea, facial veins, and broken capillaries) and browns (sun damage), fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, and skin tightening; permanent laser hair reduction; bioequivalent hormone replacement therapy; weight loss; and IV nutrition. 

Laser therapies and BHRT (Bio-equivalent Hormone Replacement Therapy) are what I would like to promote most. 

My goal is to appeal to men and women from age 18 up and ensure that their visit is comfortable setting. 

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Currently, we are renting a small space and hope in the next 2 – 5 years to expand into our own building. Being in a bigger place will include hiring a small staff and offering more services.
