Exploring Life & Business with Katy Wistrom of Skintuition | Holistic Skin Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katy Wistrom.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been an esthetician for over ten years, sometimes I still can’t believe that I have been making people feel confident for over a decade. I have been a part of many facets of this industry from working the front desk, to being a med spa practitioner, to a day spa esthetician, to now business owner of the last four years. In each role that I have been a part of, I have learned something new and used it to shape who I am personally and professionally today.

My family and I moved to the area last August and fell in love with Holly Springs and I was approached about the suite rental in November. December I opened up Skintuition and have slowly been meeting new clients and sharing my love for all things skin and wellness with my clients and those around me in the suites and neighboring salon. I’m so thankful for this journey and it has been so wonderful getting to know each and every one of the clients I have.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? No. Incredible? Yes.

I think like many business owners, the main struggle is “can I actually do this?”, once you get past that first struggle and make it work to create the small business, the struggles are more just learning curves.
No matter what position I have been in in this industry, every challenge has something I can take away to make myself better behind the esthetician table or in the owners chair. I believe if it was all smooth sailing, it would be boring and I would be mediocre. I’m thankful for the bumps in the road and what they have done for my growth as a person and as a business woman.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Skintuition is a combination of all of the positions I have worked in in this industry as well as the thousands of hours of continuing education I have enrolled myself in over the last decade.
I specialize in creating customized skin treatments to meet my clients needs in the moment as well as getting them closer to their healthy skin goals.
I use the precision of western techniques with methods from the east such as Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine to create the perfect ritual and home care routine for each individual client. I am most proud of my Holistic Acne Bootcamp that I created that consists of 12 weeks of lifestyle, nutrition, stress, and product audits and changes that is meant for all ages, skin types, and skin tones.
I want readers to know that any appointment with me is in a safe space and judgement free zone. That I take your skin seriously and love to problem solve with you to get you to your happiest and healthiest skin. My door is always open.
