Exploring Life & Business with Kelli Gabrielle of Della Roxie Earrings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelli Gabrielle.

Hi Kelli, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi everyone, my name is Kelli, I am from North Carolina, and I currently live in Durham, NC, and run my business out of Raleigh, NC. I am an IT professional currently in school to obtain my MBA, ITM degree. My undergrad was Business Management, and I have always been involved and interested in the arts. I am an aspiring developer/ graphic designer and consultant for small to medium enterprises, and I work on projects daily to fulfill those goals. I began formulating ideas for a business back in undergrad, and I gave up due to school and other factors. Eventually, I settled on starting a boutique-style online store offering handbags, hats, earrings, and masks in 2020. I unintentionally did very well in the beginning due to the influx of orders for masks and used the momentum to bring other offerings to the site. Most recently, I have transitioned to only Polymer Clay earrings, which has brought me so much purpose, and I am fueled to continue my journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So, after college, I had a hard time adapting to the busy 9-5 life mainly because I was not as intentional in school. Although we usually do not get what we want when we want it, I have always been a bit risky and confident; so I thought it would be easy to have the lifestyle I wanted immediately. Unfortunately, my hard time was self-inflicted and self-sabotaging because I have always gone back and forth with questioning my potential. Over time I have had to learn from my past successes, failures, and lessons to understand the type of person I need to become to have what I want. Throughout my journey the biggest struggle is saying bye to the past versions of myself. Although it sounds hard, it has been good to have a growth mindset and new perspective on my progress.

Personally, there have been many things that have held me back from trying my best, including imposter syndrome, family issues, and lack of self-awareness. Through those elements of life, I have discovered their importance in building character. Finding something such as a hobby or skill was also a way for me to overcome those obstacles through the years. I give credit and complete gratitude to my past hobbies and interest that always kept me busy while sharpening my skills. I encourage anyone going through obstacles through their journey to zoom in and zoom out on everything your encounter to find the blessings in disguise and always allow yourself to feel the challenge and reflect on them. While reflecting on your challenges, you will unleash the desire to solve your own problems and invest in becoming your higher self. Because that is the ultimate goal.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
This may be known to some, but I have always been extremely shy, even around family sometimes, but more when I was younger. I have learned to “snap out of” in certain circumstances, but I still have those little shy moments. Being expressive in my career and business has allowed me to be free and adaptable to others, and I have gotten better over time. Usually, once I get to know the environment or people better, I will open up more, but I am also very private, so I have implemented so many steps, tricks, and techniques so that I gain more and more at every level.
