Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Straub.
Hi Kyle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from upstate NY where I was a radio Dj for a country music station. I got laid off when the recession hit and decided to chase my dream of working in sports. I picked up and moved on my own to Chapel Hill in June of 2009. A couple of months later I landed a job with UNC as a part time sports broadcaster for their Olympic sports. As I grew my career, I worked as a bartender at Goodfellows. I grew in my broadcasting career with UNC to the point that 7 years ago I moved into the radio booth as the full time baseball voice. A position I still hold. Once again though an unforeseen complication threw a monkey wrench in my career plans. When the pandemic came it took away all sports and with that my job. So like last time, I made a change in order to keep moving forward. I went to Real Estate school and got my license. Real Estate was something I was always interested in. I worked in pest control and landscaping for a combine 5 years in my life. With that I heard a lot of horror stories of people working with bad Real Estate agents. I got into this to be the opposite of that. I want to help people realize their dream of owning a home, and making that process as smooth as possible for them.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No road is smooth. Mine is no different. The recession in 08, the pandemic, and the normal every day bumps in the road. Handling all of that on my own with my family being in NY. I really helped me in the long run to mature. I moved here as a young 23 year old.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Since getting my license in 2020, I have primarily focused my work on real estate. One of the big reasons I joined the firm is because of the family atmosphere and support that everyone has for each other there. I also was really drawn to the work model, which is we are advisors not agents. Our goal is to help advice people as best we can, so that they can make the best decisions. We are focused on building relationships with people and not just worried about buying or selling.
What’s next?
I think at this point my plan for the future is to be a dad. My wife and I are expecting our first child in Feb (a girl). So everything I do, be it personal or professional, is done with her in mind. My family is everything to me!
