Markese, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Markese I am 25 years old I started off doing hair at 11 years old. I started off playing in my niece hair R’moniee doing her bows and Barrettes. As years went on 2012 i started teaching myself how to do box braids my mom and niece were my only mannequins I could use to try new styles on. After a year of teaching myself new ways and techniques to braid I started taking clients in 2013. After realizing how good my work was with no social media word of mouth is what help grow my buisness. My first ever clients when I moved to Walnut Creek where Bria and Brittany I’ll never forget the first set of braids i did they were long 30inch poetic justice braids after realizing how good i was at braiding I started taking more clients. I stopped braiding in 2017 and started a new path which i practice installing frontal and closure wigs on my mom. Trial and error is what got me this far after getting comfortable with installing wigs on clients. I knew this was my calling so I branded myself and came up with my buisness name marsklusive which my brother Lamont helped me with. I stuck with that name because everything I touch got to be exclusive when leaving my chair I want my clients to feel conceited. In 2022 I started working with celebrities and that was one of my greatest accomplishments being self taught and seeing that my work was catching eyes and turning heads. I love what I do I love making women feel so beautiful that no one can tell them different. Hair has been my passion since a kid and seeing my growth throughout the years have molded me. I appreciate every client that sat in my chair and got the Exclusive experience of my gifted hands that god blessed me with.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Over the past 12 years everything isn’t peaches and cream you may have some obstacles that may challenge you and break you but you have to stand strong and believe in yourself that life isn’t all glitz and glam we all hit rock bottom but it’s within yourself to pick yourself up hold your head high and move foward.

As you know, we’re big fans of Marsklusive styles. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business name is marsklusive and you all my not know that i combined my name (Markese and the word Exclusive) together because my work is top tier i love makeovers i love seeing women smile once they get their hair done leaving my chair. I specialize in natural hair / wig installation. I work with so many hair conditions that you all may not never know but i don’t turn down anyone if you want to sit with me I’m very welcoming i love and have a passion for what i do.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I’m the second youngest of 9 siblings. I never really played outside like that as a kid but making people laugh is one of my favorite things to do. I’m a very outgoing person that’s welcoming.
