Exploring Life & Business with Michael Adams of Triple G Creations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Adams.

Michael Adams

Hi Michael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! My name is Michael Adams, raised here in Raleigh, NC but born in D.C. I truly got invested in photography back in high school when a lot of my friends made me their go-to person to take their photos for them off of our phones. All my friends would say I would always capture the best angles, but when it comes to my photos… never got the same love back haha. All my photographers out there would know this feeling lol. My passion and creativity with the lens lead me to pursue that in college with a degree in Media Studies. It wasn’t until college where I really started getting more into videography. I received my first DSLR camera when I graduated college, and it was the best gift ever. As a kid, I always loved the spotlight and being in front of the camera, but as I got older, I found joy in displaying my creativity behind the lens. The cinematography and film classes I took in college helped me develop my understanding of film and how technology and software comes together to produce video. During my tenure in school, I learned different filming techniques and how to use Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro. Photography and videography became my second passion behind my first love which is basketball. When it comes to taking photos and videos, I personally love doing sports photography and videography because it puts me around that game atmosphere again, and being able to be sidelined at the games and capturing those moments is such a thrill for me. Aside from sports, I have done other photoshoots centering around engagements, family events, birthdays, and just other events in general. Most of my videography has been sports, but I have done some BTS of Weddings and some event recap videos. Photography and videography was always just a hobby for me that I enjoyed doing, but with the encouragement of a close friend, I have now recently turned that hobby into a side hustle. I am always looking to capture more moments through my Sony lens for anyone in the Raleigh and surrounding areas.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
From a business standpoint, nothing great comes easy. Running my own business is new to me, and there are always obstacles and challenges to overcome. The biggest one right now is being brand new and getting my name out there to receive more clients. Aside from that, the initial upfront investment can always be a heavy toll emotionally, mentally, and financially. From an emotional and mental standpoint, I always continue to stay positive and remind myself that my initial investments will soon pay off. Everything doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistency, dedication, and adaptability, my business goals will soon begin to flourish. And if you are anything like me, you don’t like to spend money either haha, but financially as a photographer/videographer you definitely have to invest in your equipment because your equipment is your business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
People should know that Triple G Creations came from my life mantra God, Growth, and Gratitude. Those three words are in that specific order because for me without God being the focal point and leader in your life there is no Growth as an individual, and Growth is fueled by expressing Gratitude every day and being grateful for seeing another day and the opportunities and things you have been blessed with.

I primarily specialize and known for doing sports photography and videography. Outside of sports, I also do business headshots, individual or group/family portraits, outdoor shoots, events (business, parties, family, etc.). I do love to experiment and try new opportunities that I haven’t done before as well. I find that exciting to be able to get my feet wet in other types of shoots.

For me, I feel like my editing creativity sets me apart from others. Anyone can go buy the camera and equipment and have some type of knowledge on how to use it but it does take a creative mind to think outside the box and think about the type of shot you want to capture or the B roll you need to be able to tell a story and edit your work on the backend.

Right now, my work is displayed on Instagram, and as my work continues to expand a website will soon to come, but I am currently being reached on social media, word a mouth talking to people at events, or just being contacted through email.

How do you think about luck?
If I had to pinpoint a couple of moments where I felt like there was some good luck, I would say when my father lended me his Sony A7iii for me to test it out to see how I would like it, and that test run turned into me using the camera full time. Another time, some good luck happened; I would say a family friend of mine, who I also look to as a father, gave me an outlet to work on my craft with his basketball academy called IV Greatness Academy here in Raleigh. I began taking my sports photos and videos with the basketball teams we have here within our academy. So, I guess you can say those were two lucky moments for me in my professional and personal life. Both of those moments helped me gain a jump start with my business from a financial standpoint and being able to connect with kids and parents from a clientele standpoint. I am such a strong believer of listening to signs that God has put in my path, and over and over again, I continued to get an urge to take my hobby to the next level. However, aside from the internal urges, the love and support from my family and friends have given me the confidence to pursue this as a business venture.
