Today we’d like to introduce you to Milton Fernandez Pena.

Hi Milton, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. 
Our story starts in the Dominican Republic. We belong to a musical family. My grandmother was the owner and director of the most prestigious private music school in the country. My mother has an M.D. and a master’s in music education. She later became the director of my grandmother’s school. 

Since I can remember, I have been surrounded by music and other art forms. By the time I was 18 years old, I decided to go to academia and pursue degrees in music, such as Bachelor, Master and later, a Doctorate in piano performance. It was here that I perfected my craft as a piano pianist and as a teacher. In October 2020, in the middle of the pandemic and while I was finishing my doctorate, my mother decided to emigrate to the USA and live with me. After my graduation, we decided to move to North Carolina and establish our own music studio. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having a music studio is a blessing, but it is not an easy journey. One of the biggest struggles has been to establish an image in the triangle area. However, there are plenty of good students out there that are always eager to take piano lessons.
