Hi Naquette , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey in the beauty industry began long before I became an esthetician. In 2003, I opened my first business, a hair salon, which I owned and operated for five years. That experience introduced me to entrepreneurship and gave me a firsthand understanding of what it takes to build a business, serve clients, and create an environment where people feel confident and cared for.
After stepping away from the salon industry, I found myself drawn to skincare and esthetics. In 2012, I became a licensed esthetician, and it didn’t take long for me to realize I had found my true passion. I fell in love with helping people improve not only their skin but also their confidence. There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing a client leave feeling better about themselves than when they arrived.
In 2013, I founded Pure Wax & Beauté Bar with the vision of providing luxury waxing and personalized skincare experiences in a welcoming, results-driven environment. What started as a small business has grown into an award-winning brand known for exceptional client care, advanced skincare services, and expertise in full-body waxing.
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t always been easy. I’ve faced challenges, taken risks, and learned countless lessons along the way. Each obstacle helped me grow stronger as both a business owner and a person. Through dedication, continuing education, and a genuine passion for serving others, I’ve been able to build a business that reflects my values and commitment to excellence.
Today, I’m proud to be a board-certified esthetician, instructor, and business owner. I continue to help clients achieve healthier skin and greater confidence while also mentoring other beauty professionals and exploring new opportunities for growth. Looking back, what started as a love for beauty and self-care has evolved into a career and business that I truly love, and I’m excited about what the future holds.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. Like most entrepreneurs, my journey has come with its share of challenges, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty.
One of the biggest challenges was navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many businesses in the beauty industry, we were forced to temporarily close our doors, which created a lot of uncertainty about the future. It was a difficult time, both personally and professionally, but it also taught me the importance of adaptability, perseverance, and staying connected to my clients and community.
Another ongoing challenge has been staffing. Finding and retaining the right team members who share your vision, work ethic, and commitment to client care can be difficult in any service-based business. Over the years, I’ve learned that building a successful business isn’t just about providing great services it’s also about creating strong systems, maintaining a positive culture, and being willing to adjust when things don’t go as planned.
I’ve also faced many of the challenges that come with entrepreneurship itself wearing multiple hats, making tough decisions, managing growth, and balancing business ownership with family life. There were times when I questioned whether I was making the right decisions, but each challenge helped me grow stronger and more confident as a business owner.
What has kept me going is my passion for helping people and my belief in the vision I have for my business. Every obstacle has taught me valuable lessons, and I’m grateful for those experiences because they have shaped both my career and the way I lead today. Looking back, I can honestly say the challenges didn’t stop me they helped prepare me for the next level.

Pure Wax & Beauté Bar is a luxury waxing and skincare studio, but at its core, it’s really about people. I created this business because I genuinely love helping others and wanted to build a space where clients could relax, recharge, and take time for themselves in the middle of their busy lives.
We specialize in full-body waxing, intimate skincare, corrective skincare, and customized skincare rituals, but what we’re really known for is the experience. From the moment a client walks through the door, we want them to feel welcomed, comfortable, and cared for. Whether it’s your first Brazilian wax, your first facial, or your hundredth visit, we strive to make every appointment feel personal.
One thing that sets us apart is that we truly take the time to get to know our clients. We celebrate their milestones, listen to their concerns, and often become a small part of their self-care journey. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to build relationships with clients who have trusted me for years, and many of them have become like family.
I’m also incredibly proud that we’ve built a reputation for delivering both exceptional service and real results. We don’t chase trends we focus on education, quality, and helping clients understand what works best for their individual skin. I believe skincare should feel luxurious, but it should also be effective.
As a business owner, one of my greatest accomplishments has been building a brand that reflects who I am: warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely passionate about serving others. Receiving recognition and awards is wonderful, but what means the most to me is when a client refers a friend, brings a family member, or continues trusting us year after year.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing the brand through both in-person and virtual skincare services, allowing me to help even more people achieve their skincare goals. At the end of the day, Pure Wax & Beauté Bar is about creating experiences, building relationships, and helping people prioritize themselves for a change. That’s what makes this work so special to me.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Absolutely. While I may be the face of the business, there is no way I would be where I am today without the support, encouragement, and love of so many people around me.
First and foremost, my husband and business partner, Prentice, deserves tremendous credit. Entrepreneurship can be an emotional roller coaster, and throughout the years he has been my sounding board, my encourager, and one of my biggest supporters. He’s believed in my vision even during the moments when I doubted myself, and his support has helped me continue pushing forward through both the highs and the challenges of business ownership.
My Aunt Gwynn has also been an incredible blessing. She has served as my office manager for more than eight years and has been one of the most loyal and dependable people in my corner. She helps keep things running smoothly behind the scenes and has been a constant source of support, stability, and encouragement throughout the growth of the business.
I also have to thank my mother, Brenda and my sister Nicole who has helped in countless ways behind the scenes over the years. As entrepreneurs, we often rely on family more than people realize, and her willingness to step in, help out, and support my dreams has meant so much to me.
Beyond my immediate family, I’m grateful for the friends, mentors, colleagues, and fellow business owners who have shared advice, encouragement, and wisdom along the way. Building a business can sometimes feel lonely, but I’ve been fortunate to have people in my life who have celebrated the wins, helped me navigate challenges, and reminded me to keep going.
Most importantly, I am incredibly thankful for my clients. Many of them have been with me for years, supporting my business through different chapters, referring their friends and family, and trusting me with their skincare and self-care journeys. Their loyalty and support have allowed me to do what I love every day, and for that I will always be grateful.
Success is never achieved alone. It truly takes a village, and I feel blessed to have such an amazing one behind me.
