Exploring Life & Business with Natalie Rouse of Posh Selfie Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Rouse.

Hi Natalie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had quite the entrepreneurial spirit. For the past seven years, I’ve been able to express that through Network Marketing while I stayed home with my three children.

During the summer of 2021, my family life went through some major changes, a failed marriage, and the separation of an already blended family. I had no idea what my future was going to look like anymore, as a stay-at-home mom for so long, I didn’t have a stable career or the security that comes with all of that.

In the midst of all of these changes and uncertainty, I decided to follow through with attending a girl’s trip to Nashville, TN that had been in the works for some time. I had no idea at the time how pivotal that trip would be for me or my family’s future. We attended a place called Selfie Scene Nash. The entire place was like a pink dollhouse, with beautiful backgrounds everywhere. It was so much fun and perfect for our group of friends and all of our social media needs.

As soon as we left, I spent all night telling my friends..”THAT is what I want to do” and brainstorming ideas with them. They all know me as the planner, I planned that trip from the Airbnb to outings and even meals and goodie bags. Planning, organizing, and creativity.

All things that this business concept would let me fully dive into. It was perfect for me and something I felt like Johnston County could really use. We didn’t have anything like it. Fast forward almost a year, now, I can say that we do and I’ve loved the setup process.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Man, nothing about this has been smooth but it all has been “figure-out-able” lol.

When I left my marriage, I had to pick up a couple of jobs to get back on my feet, on top of now being a single mother of three young children, extra time to put something like this together was something I was lacking. I had to reprioritize a lot of things, resign from those positions, and really take a leap of faith.

Living in the unknown again was really scary. I was ALL IN with just myself, an idea, and a big empty space.
For a while, it seemed like if anything could go wrong, it was going to. I was the victim of a break-in just a couple of weeks after getting the keys and between finding a contractor and recruiting friends to help, I wasn’t sure I was ever going to be ready for the grand opening.

I am really fortunate to say that even with all of the bumps in the road, everything ended up falling into place perfectly.
