The Story Behind Plum Krazy Play
Plum Krazy Play began long before the play structures, laughter, and memories—it began with a family, a dream, and a purple pinstripe jersey.
When our owner was just 12 years old, her parents stepped in to support a local rec league softball team that didn’t even have a coach. Her father became the head coach. There was no assistant coach or scorekeeper either—so her mother filled that role with pride and determination. She even renamed the Coul-Oak Rec League team “Plum Crazy”, outfitting them in unforgettable purple pinstriped jerseys.
That season, the team went 25–0, finishing undefeated. The championship banner from that remarkable year still hangs on the backstop today—a lasting symbol of what happens when family, dedication, and belief come together.
Years later, life came full circle.
After being blessed with a daughter with special needs, the same spirit that built an undefeated team inspired a new mission. After countless visits to play spaces that weren’t designed for all children, the vision for Plum Krazy Play was born.
Plum Krazy Play was created to be a place where every child is welcome—not just the “typical” child. A space thoughtfully designed for children of different ages and abilities. A space that is safe, sensory-friendly, and gives parents a true sense of comfort and security. Most importantly, a space where families can slow down, connect, and make memories together.
These are the same kinds of memories our owner was fortunate to create with her own family as a child—and the same memories she hopes families in our community will cherish for a lifetime.

Becoming new owners of a play place has come with its own set of challenges. Learning to navigate the day-to-day responsibilities, the behind-the-scenes work, and the realities of running a business has been a journey filled with lessons, growth, and perseverance.
But within those challenges, there is so much beauty.
There is beauty in learning something new every day.
There is beauty in watching a child’s face light up the moment they walk through the doors.
And there is beauty—even in the bittersweet moments—when children are sad to leave because they didn’t want the fun to end.
Those smiles, giggles, and tight hugs at the door remind us exactly why Plum Krazy Play exists. Every challenge is worth it when we see joy unfolding in real time and know we are creating a space where children feel safe, included, and truly happy.

We specialize in creating experiences that reduce stress for parents while maximizing joy for children. From open play and memberships to thoughtfully planned birthday parties, Parent’s Morning Out, Date Night Out, field trips, and special events, everything we offer is built around connection, safety, and ease. Parents can relax knowing their children are playing in a space that values both fun and well-being.
Brand-wise, we are most proud of the community we’ve built. Plum Krazy Play is not just a play place—it’s a space where friendships form, families return week after week, and children are celebrated exactly as they are. Seeing the excitement on a child’s face when they walk in—and the reluctance to leave when it’s time to go—reminds us why this work matters.
Our name, Plum Krazy Play, represents legacy, family, and belief. It traces back to a youth softball team named “Plum Crazy” that went undefeated, coached and supported entirely by family. That same spirit of dedication, love, and teamwork now lives on in our brand and our mission.
What we want readers to know most is this: Plum Krazy Play was built with intention and love. We are here to serve families, create lasting memories, and provide a space where every child feels safe, seen, and valued. How do you think about luck?
At exactly the right time, the right space became available. What felt like a simple opportunity quickly revealed itself to be something much more meaningful. The location, layout, and timing aligned perfectly with our vision, allowing us to dream bigger than we initially thought possible.
We were also blessed with incredibly generous landlords who believed in the mission from the very beginning. Their willingness to assist with the buildout and layout of the space made it possible to create an environment that is not only fun, but also safe, accessible, and thoughtfully designed for children of all abilities. Their support helped turn an idea into a reality and played a pivotal role in allowing Plum Krazy Play to open its doors to the community.
We believe Plum Krazy Play exists because of the right people coming together at the right time—and we are deeply grateful for the support that helped transform this vision into a place where families now gather, play, and create lasting memories.
