Today we’d like to introduce you to Quanetta King.
Hi Quanetta, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into the wellness space was very personal. For years, I struggled with weight loss and feeling connected to my body. Like many women, I tried different diets and trends, but it wasn’t until I really started learning about how the body works especially the lymphatic and digestive systems that things began to shift for me.
I first entered the wellness industry through body contouring. I wanted to help other women feel confident in their skin, just like I was working to do for myself. But the more I worked with clients, the more I realized that so many of us were addressing the outside without truly supporting what was happening on the inside.
That led me to explore gut health and eventually become certified in Colon Hydrotherapy. Once I experienced firsthand how powerful it was not just for digestion, but for energy, mental clarity, and overall well-being I knew I wanted to offer that to my community.
I opened Vanity Esteem in Fayetteville, NC, starting with body contouring and one colon hydrotherapy device. Over time, my business grew through word of mouth and social media — one of my videos even went viral, reaching over 5 million people! That moment really showed me how many people are craving information about gut health and natural wellness.
Today, Vanity Esteem is a six-figure business offering a full range of detox and gut health services, plus products like my fruit-flavored sea moss gels.
At the core of it all, my mission is to help people reconnect with their bodies — from the inside out — and feel empowered in their wellness journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road — but every bump taught me something valuable. In the beginning, I was learning everything as I went — from running a business to navigating client care to building an online presence. There were moments where I doubted myself, especially as a Black woman in a wellness space that often isn’t as inclusive.
One of my biggest challenges was educating people on the value of what I offer. When I first started with body contouring, people understood it right away. But when I moved into colon hydrotherapy, I had to break down a lot of misconceptions and stigma. Many folks didn’t know what it was or were nervous to try it — so I had to use my voice, my story, and a lot of education to build trust.
Another hurdle was balancing growth. When my business went viral on social media, I suddenly had clients booking from all over — I was fully booked out, It was a blessing, but it also pushed me to quickly learn how to manage the demand, maintain a high level of service, and still take care of myself as an entrepreneur. I had to put systems in place, hire help, and create boundaries so I could continue to serve my clients well without burning out.
