Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherry Ringer.
Hi Sherry, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
For many years my focus has been on a career in medicine. With a small medical consulting firm, I continuously made excuses for not focusing on my own personal health. In 2018, I embarked on a weight loss journey, with a goal to just feel better, and less focus on the scale. I began walking and monitoring food intake with the use of Weight Watchers. My walk slowly progressed to a run, and I found a love for running at local parks and through my neighborhood. I also found that big box gyms were not for me. I did not enjoy the feeling of working out alone and not having any outside motivation. My walks/runs in parks allowed me to see, wave, and somewhat interact with people along the way. During that time, I felt as though I was not the only individual needing a group setting to get motivated and enjoy working out.
Fast forward to 2019, with a weight loss of 75 pounds, I began to envision developing some type of group fitness setting with non-traditional workouts that were fun and focused more on making people fall in love with movement. My vision came to light the latter part of 2019, in which Club Cardio and Fitness Bar was born. Our first classes were centered around high-energy hip-hop step classes, and we slowly grew to add more high-energy classes with a basis of using hip-hop music. We started off in a 1,600 square foot facility, and 2 staff members. To date, we have transitioned to a 12,000 square foot facility with 10 staff members, group fitness classes every night of the week, except Fridays, as well as small group weight training and personal training. With over 100 members, we house group fitness classes with an average of 50-65 people per class. The cherry on top to our group fitness philosophy and space is our full-service smoothie bar with protein shakes, energy drinks, and natural fruit smoothies. Our smoothie bar is far from traditional as well. Protein shake flavors ranging from Peach Cobbler to Apple Pie, we embody the full-scale enjoyment of a high-energy fitness regimen to a flavorful meal replacement protein shake to replenish you after your workout or a natural energy drink to fuel you before your workout.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As many businesses face obstacles, I think our biggest hurdle was transitioning during COVID. With focusing on high energy and fun workouts, it was difficult to imagine our workouts being done virtually and channeling our energy through a screen instead in person. We learned a lot during that time and focused on building our smoothie bar and brand, as well as transitioning to doing classes outside for over a year.
We’ve been impressed with Club Cardio and Fitness Bar, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
High energy group fitness setting with classes ranging from Hip Hop Step to non-traditional boot camps, and military-style small group training sessions. Within our 12,000 sq foot facility, we house group fitness classes averaging 50-65 people per class, as well as a full-service smoothie bar with protein shakes, energy drinks, and natural fruit smoothies.
