Today we’d like to introduce you to Tish Oxner

Tish, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in 2020 during Covid by making adult capri sun pouches. Once things began to open back up, I was hosting pop up shops that would showcase my business as well as other small businesses in the area. This created a space for networking and collaboration for us all.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has NOT been a smooth road. As things began to go back to normal and I went back to work, I had to find a balance. I was so used to doing just the bar business, I thought it would be an easy transition to add in my work, but not so much. I struggled with time management, trying to be in 2-3 places at once and so much more. At one point, I put a pause in the mobile bar service so that I could regain my footing. I couldn’t give my all to my clients and I knew I also needed to work. So one had to take a backseat. Now that I have found a balance, it’s been back to business as usual and I’m so thankful for those clients that waited for me to get things together.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a mobile bartender based in Charlotte, NC and I do service other areas of the state and surrounding states. I specialize in curating one of a kind cocktails that help elevate private events. I think my prior bar experience has helped me so much in this business. Knowing what to expect with clients as well as their guests and being able to adapt to any situation is something I pride myself on. I offer an option for an “open bar” concept or a specialized drink menu. I walk my clients through from beginning to end so that they feel like they are a apart of this aspect as well. I also recently became a North Carolina preferred alcohol education vendor. I am am able to train and certify anyone that is looking to transition into the bar world. Classes are bi monthly, but will soon be offered on a monthly basis.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For anyone starting out, my advice is to just do it! Do it scared, so it unsure, just do it! You never know what can come from it. I thought it all had to be perfect from the beginning and that’s not true. Perfection comes with practice. There is still so much for me to learn and I do it as I go. As cliche as it sounds, experience really is the best teacher.
