Exploring Life & Business with Veronika Palova of Happy Nest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronika Palova.

Hi Veronika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
As a single mom of a one-year-old little girl, I always envisioned being able to provide her the best life. Due to financial struggles, I’ve decided to open up a spare bedroom in my apartment on Airbnb short-term rental platform. It was difficult as you would never know who would stay home with you. I locked my bedroom door every night and scheduled the use of the only bathroom very carefully. Eventually, I saved up enough money to purchase a home with a detached garage which I decided to convert into a studio living. It started to become this beautiful journey with Airbnb. I knew I loved interior designing, photography, real estate, and customer service. It was the perfect way to use my passions as a way to make side money. After almost of 5 years and 7 Airbnbs, I’ve decided to quit my corporate job and pursue this on full-time terms. And I’m so glad I did, as I’m busier than ever in a way that fulfills me and makes me feel that what I’m doing is making others happy and sharing memories with them through my homes. Through all the bumps and sweat, I wouldn’t change any of it. It has made me more resilient, driven, and passionate about living life to its fullest and following what truly makes us happy.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I remember one time I came home with my 3-year-old and had to send her to her room immediately as there was eggshells and eggs all over the walls, carpet, etc. I came to an empty home. Most of my larger stuff was stolen. I wish I could say this was my only struggle throughout this 5-year journey, but when they say “high risk, high reward,” they weren’t kidding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Something I love sharing with others through my profession is the knowledge and ability others have if they too want to pursue similar career path. I want them to know even with kids, full-time job, school, or whatever it is; they too can succeed at whatever they set their mind to. I provide consulting on short-term real estate market strategies, interior designing, and overall start-to-finish to obtaining an Airbnb. I root for any person that has a great idea and is willing to put in the work to make their dreams come true.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Persistency. Determination. Grit. Staying grateful.
