Francisco Castruita-Perez of Fayetteville on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Francisco Castruita-Perez and have shared our conversation below.

Francisco, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am most proud of building my own business from the ground up. Like any other business, there are ups and downs, this is what makes a business successful. I’m proud that I have never stopped believing in myself to push this business to its fullest potential. The hard work and everyday hustle for the business has been very rewarding.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Francisco Castruita-Perez, owner of FJCP Lawncare & Landscaping LLC. We are a lawncare and landscaping company based out of Fayetteville, NC. FJCP Lawncare has been creating exquisite landscaping projects and maintaining general ground maintenance since 2016. I started this company from the ground up, on my own and that’s something I am very proud of. It has been such a blessing that I can truly say that I love what I do. Lawncare has always been a staple in my life as I can remember working since I was a kid. My father would take me to work with him and let me work to earn my pay. I quickly realized as I grew up how much I wanted to be in this business. I am very excited for my business and what is to come in the future!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My father is the one that has taught me the most about being hardworking and to never give up on what you want to pursue in life. My father has been a great role model in my life and I can’t thank him enough for what he has shared with me on how to become a hard worker.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I was invited give a bid on a military base recently and as much as I thought how big of an opportunity this was for me and my business, I turned down the opportunity to bid on the property. I soon realized how quickly I could have destroyed what I have been building for years if I were to accept a big bid like this one. Quickly, I decided that all the ordinances and strict rules they had for my business were not worth it. Sometimes you have to realize how much of a bite you can take from things and when you can’t.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real version of myself. I truly believe in treating people how you want to be treated. In my business you have to speak and be a people person. I’m grateful for the open communication I can have with individuals.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I believe they would miss the truthfulness and kindness that comes from my business mindset.
