Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Holmes.
Hi Alexis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Alexis Nichole Holmes, and I am a born and raised native of Durham, NC, and current resident of Raleigh, NC. In 2016, I graduated with Cum Laude honors from Meredith College with a double bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management and Fashion Merchandising and Design.
With a combined 8.5 years of experience, my journey in the real estate industry started as a Client Care Specialist and mortgage broker Executive Assistant for The Jawny Group. Working in this position, I really enjoyed that it was a client-facing role, and on a daily basis, I was able to be a part of individuals and family’s biggest decision of their life, purchasing a home! This position was very rewarding, and I enjoyed making real estate dreams come true through lending for a little over 4 years until I was presented with the next journey of my career, which later led me directly into the career I am in now (so thankful!). After spending some time in the mortgage industry, I joined the property management world as an Assistant Property Manager for a locally owned property management company, Ticon Properties. In my role at Ticon, I had the pleasure of being the main contact for all prospects, current residents, and vendors for 5 properties, approximately 521 units! I really enjoyed this position as well as it was a position where I was able to meet new people from all walks of life, assist them with their needs, and independently manage the processes along the way. Being with the company for a combined 2.5 years, I was offered an amazing opportunity; the opportunity to obtain my real estate license as a part of their continued education and employee growth initiative, and of course, I took it!
After completing a 6-week pre-licensing course at Pan School of Real Estate with the amazing instructor Travis Everette while still working at Ticon, I passed the NC Real Estate Broker State & National exam; on the first try, I proudly obtained my NC Real Estate License May of 2021!
Once I obtained my license and joined my first real estate firm, which was eXp Realty at the time, started training and participated in a mentorship program… I knew being a full-time Real Estate Agent was in my near future.
A few months after having my license, I found a real estate firm that was better aligned with my beliefs and goals and joined Keller Williams.
Currently, I am proud and accomplished full-time NC Real Estate Broker | REALTOR with an amazing team at Keller Williams Preferred Realty (Raleigh, NC), Ashley Wilson Realty Group, one of the top 25 Residential Real Estate Teams (Triangle Business Journal).
Being a real estate agent is definitely my calling, and I enjoy working my business, “Closed By Holmes”… I know the last name is so fitting, each and every day! I have always been passionate about serving others, educating, and being an amazing role model in my community, and real estate helps me do it all.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In real estate, there are definitely smooth and bumpy roads, but overall, the smooth road in my journey thus far outweighs the challenges.
When I obtained my real estate license, it was very different than how some of my peers obtained there’s as we were in a pandemic, so my pre-licensing and post-licensing courses were held online via Zoom rather than in person, which was different; however, I was still able to excel and obtain my real estate license in no time.
Additionally, started a new career during a pandemic was a little challenging as guidance around the pandemic changed from the way agents met and communicated with clients, conducted the transaction, and overall, the processes of how we did thing in at the time; I highly demanded market that no one had seen coming or experienced.
In all, even though there were some challenges along the way, I stayed grounded and kept faith in the process and plan God had for me, and today I am thankful for all the experiences I have encountered so far in my career.
We’ve been impressed with Closed By Holmes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I love what I do each and every day, and being a Real Estate Agent is not just a job for me; it’s my life, truly a part of my lifestyle.
What do you think about luck?
Luck has not played any part in my life or business as I believe in the great bible verse Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths”.
I truly believed being a Real Estate Agent is my calling, and over my journey so far, there have been wins and lessons (never losses); however, I have kept faith, put in the work, countless hours, adjusted my mindset, and have accomplished many goals and continue to accomplish goals I have set for myself for the next day, week, month, year, and years to come.
In all, nothing I have experienced in life or business has been a result of being lucky, but because I am blessed and live in my purpose of serving others, educating others, and being a servant of my community.
“The harder I work, the luckier I get” – Samuel Goodwyn (wink, wink – get it!)
