Hidden Gems: Meet Barrett Hildebrand of Dance studio and cheer gym

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barrett Hildebrand

Hi Barrett, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The simple answer is steps.

I’m huge on goals and taking steps toward goals.

I began dance at age 2 with the dance studio directly behind my house. It was where I wanted to be, close to my mom. Cars would loop around our home every afternoon, Throughout my schooling years I would compete in various dance competitions and would raise money each year for Duke Children’s Hospital. It was a teachable moment through dance to help the children who were less fortunate. Giving back to our community was so rewarding all those years.

I then majored in dance performance at East Carolina University where my aunt taught. Simply amazing to have my family still part of the process. I knew I wasn’t going to perform after school, I wanted to have a family someday and be close to home.

I opened a dance studio that would soon add a cheer gym.
Literally replicating my childhood.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Struggles are inherent in every circumstance.

One morning at a previous job, I was overwhelmed by a profound sense of emptiness. I realized I was pursuing my career for the wrong reasons and recognized the necessity of taking a leap of faith to discover my true potential. I had become trapped in a monotonous cycle, and it was imperative to break free from the routine that had consumed me.

In order to effectively teach children, it is essential to prioritize their well-being before imparting knowledge. Building communication and sharing experiences with them is crucial, as they ultimately seek your approval. This understanding was instilled in me from a young age; I was raised to be a mentor rather than a corporate leader.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
