Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Burket
Hi Brandon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started working in the film industry in 2021 as a freelance sound mixer. I’ve had many amazing opportunities working on TV shows, narrative films, documentaries, commercials, and branding content. There has always been a passion inside of me for being involved technically in filmmaking, whether it be behind the camera, holding a boom pole, or setting up a c stand with a silk. Since I love every part of the process, it only made sense that my wife and I create our own production company, which we did in April of 2022. Since then, we have worked with a range of businesses including one in the biotech industry, nonprofits, veteran owned, and startup companies.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been moments where things have been smooth, which for me means consistency. That is always nice to have, but I would say there are more times when things are not smooth and the work is not coming as often as I would like or need. The biggest struggle with this is financial planning, specifically with month to month expenses. I could have a great month of work, and then two weeks of nothing, so I really have to pay attention to the financial forecast and manage the books accordingly. Another struggle has been finding clients. This is a big challenge for anyone in the formative years of their business, so at least I know I’m not alone. Word of mouth has proven to be the most effective way for us to get more work!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We provide full service video production to our clients, which means we handle everything from conception to execution and final delivery. Whatever the client needs, we make it happen whether its a promotional video for a medical procedure, a product and services overview video, a brand film, or an orientation video for new employees at a company. My wife is also an amazing photographer and does product photography, event coverage, business headshots, and family/senior sessions. What I think sets us apart from similar companies is when you hire us you get two for one, me and my wife, not just one person. We love working together and make a great team. She has all the creative vision and energy to come up with awesome concepts, and I have the technical skill and logistical mind to execute those ideas. I’m proud of the work we have done and am looking forward to the ideas we will come up with and the clients we will serve next!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I loved doing anything active, especially outdoors. I’ve always enjoyed playing sports and moving. There was also usually a camera in my hands and I would often shoot little short films with my friends or my brother. Over time, my personality morphed from being loud and bubbly to more reserved. This is when I really started to learn more about the filmmaking process and lose myself in the joy of perfecting a craft, which continues to this day. This is where my wife really balances me out because she is basically the opposite of me personality wise and complements my weak spots when we work on a project together!
