Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittani Procknow.
Hi Brittani, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Originally a Philadelphia native, I moved to Raleigh on a whim. I’ve been in Raleigh for the better part of a decade building a close community, friends, my practice, and lifestyle that I enjoy. I’m a relationship therapist specializing in intimacy for individuals and couples. I work with people through the arc of. their romantic story from dating to breakups, premarital counseling, and couples seeking to deepen their intimate connection with one another. Becoming a therapist has been transformational, both personally and professionally. What drew me to social work is the nature of the profession: encouraging individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities to enhance overall functioning and collective well-being. My clinical practice originates from the holistic nature of how social workers see their clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing good comes without struggles. I navigated starting a business that my degree did not prepare me for. Through making connections, meeting colleagues, many that have turned into friendships, I learned how to manage the private practice roller coaster therapists often find themselves on. I learned how to make a website, copywriting, and utilize social media all from scratch. Now I’m learning how to run a podcast, and expand my business. Somedays it’s stressful and uncertain- and I deeply enjoy every second.
As you know, we’re big fans of Relate Co. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in private practice working with individuals and couples to deepen intimacy with personally and relationally. Intimacy is into me you see, and the more you can see into yourself, the deeper your relationships become. This comes with beautiful and challenging moments both in and out of the therapy office. Relationships can feel messy, complex, and overwhelming at times. My job is to help clients navigate these complexities with curiosity, compassion, and groundedness. I offer individual and couples therapy for people wanting to deepen their relational wellbeing through insights and action. Other services include couples intensives, and dating workshops for singles navigating the modern dating landscape.
I host the How to Relate podcast, your audio destination for living relationally well. I’m talking to people about everyday concepts including mental health, work, dating, families, friendships, and hobbies and how they influence our relationships. You’ll also get deep dive episodes into topics that provide insight and action for you to make the most out of your relationships.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has played a major role in my life and business. I’m lucky to have met so many incredible supportive colleagues, clients who come across my website, and people who have been willing to connect me with opportunities I didn’t know existed. If you’re brave enough to step outside your comfort zone, luck will work for you.
