Brittany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After surviving breast cancer in 2024, I found myself craving a fresh start — something that would bring people joy the way coffee always brought me comfort. That’s how my mobile coffee business, Rise & Sip, was born. What started as a simple dream to serve good coffee turned into a purpose-driven mission to create community, connection, and a little sunshine in every cup. I began popping up locally with just faith, grit, and a small cart, and now I’m expanding toward a permanent location. My journey is about resilience, faith, and building something beautiful out of survival.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth. I started my business not long after losing my job and going through major life changes, including surviving breast cancer. I poured everything I had into building something of my own, but entrepreneurship came with a lot of learning curves. There were moments of uncertainty — from figuring things out on my own financially to navigating the ups and downs of partnerships. When my original business partner decided to step away, it forced me to rebuild from the ground up and find my confidence as a solo owner. But every challenge taught me something valuable — how to trust my vision, stand on my own, and keep moving forward no matter what.

Rise & Sip is a mobile coffee business built around community, connection, and comfort in a cup. I serve handcrafted espresso drinks, seasonal flavors, and creative coffee experiences through local pop-ups, delivery, and events. What sets Rise & Sip apart is the heart behind it — it’s not just about caffeine, it’s about creating a space where people feel seen and uplifted, even if it’s just for a few minutes in their day.
As a breast cancer survivor and woman-owned business owner, I’m proud that Rise & Sip represents resilience and new beginnings. Every drink, design, and interaction reflects that spirit. My mission is to grow Rise & Sip into a welcoming brand that reaches beyond coffee — inspiring others to rise, sip, and keep going.
How do you think about luck?
I’ve had both good luck and bad luck shape my story. Losing my job and facing cancer felt like the worst luck imaginable at the time — but those moments pushed me toward creating my own lane. I wouldn’t call it luck in the traditional sense, but divine timing. Every setback rerouted me to something bigger. The people who’ve supported Rise & Sip, the opportunities that have shown up right when I needed them — that’s the kind of luck I believe in. It’s faith meeting preparation.
