Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Thomas.
Hi Chloe, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up on a farm, in a family of entrepreneurs. I watched my parents manage their business and succeed while making family time a priority. Because I grew up in this lifestyle, I knew I wanted it for my kids one day – a super close family while managing a job that you love.
I attended North Carolina State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Information Technology; basically, I was the tech-lover that couldn’t get enough.
However, that degree didn’t come with rainbows and butterflies – I struggled in my classes and created my business in order to gain practice outside of school that was more interesting.
Upon graduation, I accepted a full-time job as a Data Developer and worked alongside my business. It was CRAZY – I had zero free time and felt my mental health slowly fading away. One year into a full-time job, my husband and I decided that it was time I quit my job and take my business to the next level.
Here I am today, 4 years in business, but only 8 months full-time. I’ve served over 60 clients and continue to serve others that making my life more enjoyable.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh my, of course not. Entrepreneurship is just as much a mental battle with yourself as it is dealing with other people. Personally, in my own journey, I have dealt with confidence and comparison problems – social media is great at showing “highlight reels” which makes it hard to believe other people struggle, too.
Confidence problems can hit you in different directions – confidence in your own work is hard but also dealing with confidence in pricing your services or your business for the value it is. To this day, you will still have others question your pricing or your worth. It’s just a part of the business – that shows me that I have to find clients who find value in my work.
Another struggle I have found to be evident as I grow is time management. For me, I like to think I’ve always been the queen of organization, time management, and all the internal things. Entrepreneurship has shown me that even professionals of organizations can be tested.
The more you grow in business, the more problems you might have and it all comes down to how you prioritize your business’ organization. Think about this: How is your client process? Do you have healthy boundaries with email responding? How do you deal with new leads?
As you know, we’re big fans of Chloe Creative Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Chloe Creative Studio is an online-based branding and website design studio for dietitians, doctors, and wellness professionals. We specialize in this very niched-down audience because it has allowed us to dive deep into the minds of this group, and find the root problems they need to be solved and how they expect them to be solved.
We specialize in all kinds of website platforms from WordPress to Showit, to Shopify and Squarespace. Because of my extensive four years of development in college, I’m ready and able to take on any development project. I have experience in HTML/CSS [website], C# [desktop/mobile application], and SQL [database] development which I feel sets us apart. Not all projects require custom-coded development, but it’s nice to know that *if* a client wants it, we can do it.
Chloe Creative is a small, but growing business – even though I might make mistakes as a business owner, I genuinely care deeply about all of my clients and want to provide them with the best service because they deserve it! My most proud moment brand-wise so far has been learning how to outsource and hire team members that are like family!
Although we specialize in brand and web work for dietitians, doctors, and wellness entrepreneurs, we do work for all entrepreneurs if we feel it’s a great fit. We offer full brand packages [primary, secondary, icons, sub-marks, patterns, color palette, typography], full website packages [custom website design & tutorials], and bundles that can work best for your business – however, we do book our 3-4 months in advance.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was evenings at home with all three of my sisters and parents in one place – these evenings usually consisted of baking chocolate chip cookies [my fav], watching Fear Factor, or playing a board game that my dad always cheated on!
