Hidden Gems: Meet Danielle Lord of House of Braids and Wigs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Lord.

Hi Danielle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Like most little girls I found an interest in braiding and combing hair. I was no older than 10 years old when I discovered that I had a passion for hair. I began doing my sister in the home and before long other family members and friends inquired. I was overjoyed to be asked. My learning journey began then in the professional beauty industry in 1991 when I began working as a shampoo girl in my hometown Long Beach, California.

With the skills that I learned there, I was able to later relocate to North Carolina where I have continued my profession/trade-in spring lake/Fayetteville NC. Where I have been able to advance my training and learn about the various options for clients that have scalp conditions. For years now I have been in love with the natural look and feel of good wigs for clients to feel their best day today. I have now made it my business with total commitment to help clients by providing good service and great hairpieces to enjoy.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and No. It has been very challenging servicing a military institution. Meeting service members from different walks of life. Some may be here today and transferred out tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
