Hidden Gems: Meet Frannie Ayers of Zen Sister Healing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frannie Ayers.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I spent most of my young adult life struggling with anxiety and depression. If it wasn’t for my kids and having them as my motivators to go to work and to attend their functions I could have very easily slipped into being a recluse due to the gripping affects of my fear based anxiety. I never received treatment and in hind sight my depression was pretty severe with days spent in bed doing the bare minimum needed to survive and to take care of my family.

In 2013, a year into my marriage I unveiled my now ex-husbands first affair. I took this own as being my fault because I had gained weight, wasn’t doing my “wifely duties” good enough, etc. This was also what I would call my first push by spirit to put me on my path. Being that I thought I was the cause of the affair I started going to the gym and got a personal trainer. While I loved my trainer and experienced great success physically what really healed more was my mind. I gained confidence in my body and that led me to try yoga again.

I had a failed attempt at yoga a couple years prior to 2013 when the teacher told me I needed to be in prenatal classes. I wasn’t pregnant, just fat. At that time I had no confidence and low self esteem so I never returned to that studio. When I attended my first yoga class at the new studio in town it was hard even though it was restorative yoga my body was not used to moving in way. Even though it was difficult it was also addicting. My mind for the first time in years felt empty and at peace while I was in those classes. I returned day after day chasing the feeling of liberation. On my days off I would take 2 to 3 classes. I didn’t know anything other than my body was changing as a side effect of what I was gifting myself to help my mind be free. In turn, I fell in love with my body and all that it can do.

I knew I wanted to be an advocate for yoga and how being in a bigger body doesn’t mean you can’t receive all the many benefits from yoga. I wanted to make an impact on my community. Teaching how to reset your nervous system and heal from the inside out. It was in 2018 that I made the decision to become a yoga teacher.

Part of the yoga teaching training requirements was to take workshops. I saw one in town that was a Reiki Workshop that said all you had to do was lay there and be still. Sign me up please! During this workshop I was introduced to the energetic body and felt the profound impact it had on me at a cellular level. This is what lead me to attending my first Reiki classes.

As my journey into the subtle body unfolded I obtained my credentials as a Reiki Master Teacher, Experienced 250 Hour Vinyasa and Yoga Nidra Teacher, Archangelic Light Master, Energetic Cord Cutting, and have just finished my 300 Hour Advanced training in Kundalini Yoga and Ayurveda.

I always say I am so grateful for that version of myself that effortlessly followed because she led me where I am today. I never thought I would be able to be of service in the capacity that I am now. It is with integrity and love that I’m able to help others with the tools I have learned along the way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anytime you have something that society would deem as not the “norm” has its struggles. I find that there has to be a constant education piece especially around the spiritual nature of the work. Being based in Eastern NC there can be push back that energy healing is against religious beliefs and its my job to help empower people to trust their inner wisdom while providing the accurate information that this work is not about religion at all.

When working with the energetic body you are working with the subtle body. In today’s world we are programmed for instant gratification, if it’s not fireworks then it can’t be real, and that the more we produce the more value our self worth. Unlearning these things is hard. It also presents its own challenges in getting people to trust you when the results aren’t always instantaneous. Working through decades worth of stuff and energy takes time and understanding. The subtle body is a whisper, not a yell. Meaning you have to slow down, allow yourself space to notice and be present. This allows you to live an embodied experience and have peace in your inner and outer world.

I also find that a minor struggle is teaching yoga from the standpoint of its roots. Modern day society/America is who made yoga into a workout. If we are practicing in it’s true, authentic nature you should never have a labored breath in yoga. It is of connection and while yes you do get stronger. have more flexibility, and better mobility those should just be the side effects of this practice. Yoga was first used to allow you to be able to sit in meditation longer. Teaching yoga from a Eastern standpoint has it’s challenges when most humans exposure to yoga has been it being more of a workout.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Zen Sister Healing is a trusted space where individuals can go to reset, learn, heal, and shared community. Everyone’s intention is different for coming. Some are looking for a sanctuary to have a reset and gain clarity while others are looking for deep healing work ranging from inner child work, addictions, anxiety, depression, and seeking body positivity.

My niche is helping individuals feel empowered, and teaching them how to take back power of their mind and this allows them to listen to their own inner guidance. I help individuals unlearn the things that don’t serve them and to learn what liberates them. This allows them to reclaim their life and helps them to be their most full self. When you fall in love with yourself and find liberation you are then able to create the life of your choosing. We all have the power of choice and it is my life’s work this time around to help people see that they don’t have to settle for mediocre jobs, boring relationships, or have discomfort in their physical body and mind.

At Zen Sister healing we offer one on one services of Intuitive Healing, Energetic Cord Cutting, Chakra Readings, Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Spiritual Advisory. We also offer group classes for Reiki trainings up to Reiki Master Teacher, Archangelic Light classes, group virtual Kundalini yoga classes, retreats, and a variety or workshops. Our monthly Cacao workshops are one of our biggest hits in the community, We also make a smokeless smudge spray that is infused with Reiki to help maintain harmony in spaces where smoking elements(sage, palo santos, etc.) can’t be used.

Knowing that our brand is rooted in the integrity of these ancient practices and that I am trusted by those meant to share a path with me is something that I will always pride myself on. Being humble in knowing that I don’t have to reinvent any of this work because it’s been passed down for centuries and has been proven to work even prior to modern medicine. Out of my services I am really proud of my retreat offerings. Allowing others to completely let go and be nurtured for a few days is beyond rewarding.

How do you think about happiness?
I find joy in so much but being able to show my children that they can be their most authentic self and watching them grow into men that are empowered is probably what makes my heart the happiest. I get to know that they will be able to always find that light within themselves because they will have known their true heart.
