Hidden Gems: Meet Jasmine of My business is called Rooted Motherhood Therapy, PLLC, which is the natural extension of my first practice, Choose To Be Happy, LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine.

Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into mental health counseling started with my own battles in college. I struggled deeply with depression and anxiety, often feeling invisible. I didn’t seek help because I didn’t know what counseling was at the time — until one day, my mom heard something in my voice over the phone. Without hesitation, she drove two and a half hours with my dad and aunt, took me to breakfast, and even brought me a teddy bear. That simple act of love reminded me I wasn’t alone, and it changed everything.

I had been studying political science with plans to become a lawyer, but that moment shifted my calling. I realized I wanted to be for others what my mom had been for me — a safe place in the storm. That realization led me to pursue mental health counseling and eventually create my first practice, Choose To Be Happy, LLC. The name reflected my journey of finding hope in uncertainty, and it became a space where I walked alongside women and young adults navigating anxiety and life transitions.

In October 2023, I became a mother, and that experience deepened my purpose. Motherhood is beautiful, but it also comes with challenges that can feel isolating and overwhelming. Out of that came the vision for Rooted Motherhood Therapy, PLLC. Rooted is still in its earliest days, but my dream is to grow it into a multidisciplinary practice that partners with doulas, lactation consultants, pelvic floor therapists, and other providers so mothers feel supported in every way. For me, this isn’t just work — it’s faith in action, turning what once felt like brokenness into something purposeful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth. Anxiety has been part of my story for years, and I still wrestle with comparison and moments of self-doubt — wondering if I’m enough or if I’m doing enough. Add to that the layers of life — being a wife, a new mom, caring for aging parents, working full-time, and now nurturing a new practice — and it can feel heavy. I don’t have it all figured out, and I don’t pretend to.

But what I’ve learned is that growth isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence. It’s choosing to show up even on the hard days. Rooted Motherhood Therapy PLLC is just beginning, and in many ways, I see it as an invitation to grow together. My hope is that it becomes a place where women know they don’t have to walk through the messy, complicated parts of life alone.

My faith is what grounds me. It reminds me that small beginnings can bloom into something impactful — not just for me, but for the community I serve.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about My business is called Rooted Motherhood Therapy, PLLC, which is the natural extension of my first practice, Choose To Be Happy, LLC.?
Rooted Motherhood Therapy, PLLC is more than a counseling practice — it’s a maternal wellness vision. Rooted exists to support women, especially mothers, in navigating the complex emotional, physical, and spiritual layers of motherhood. It’s about creating a space where women feel grounded, connected, and cared for during some of life’s most transformative seasons.

What sets Rooted apart is our commitment to holistic, multidisciplinary care. My vision is to build a collaborative model that brings together therapists, doulas, lactation consultants, pelvic floor specialists, and other providers so that mothers have access to the full range of support they need — all in one place. This isn’t just about treating symptoms; it’s about nurturing the whole woman.

I want Rooted to be known as a community, not just a service. A place where women can find strength in connection, encouragement in vulnerability, and hope in the belief that thriving is possible even in the hardest seasons. I’m proud that Rooted is beginning with such a clear sense of purpose: to create lasting impact not only for individual mothers, but for families and communities as a whole. Because when mothers thrive, everyone around them thrives too.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I have a soft spot for Raleigh, since I lived there before moving to Greenville, NC, in 2023. I love Raleigh’s mix of energy, growth, and community — there was always something new happening, but it still felt grounded and connected.

Since moving to Greenville, I’ve come to appreciate the warmth and closeness of a smaller community. It feels like the perfect place to plant roots and grow something meaningful, and I’m excited that Rooted Motherhood Therapy PLLC will be part of that.

If I had to name something I like least about Greenville, it would be the limited resources for maternal mental health outside of larger metro areas. But even that has become a source of motivation for me — it’s part of what fuels my vision for Rooted, to help close that gap and create the kind of support every mother deserves.
