Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Mumford.
Hi Jeremy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I developed a love for automobiles at a very young age. It has been so awesome seeing the advancement in technology over the years transition into the automotive industry. It is amazing what goes into creating vehicles these days.
Like myself, my father always had a passion for cars.
Growing up, I remember seeing my father outside every weekend washing our family vehicles. I learned so much as far as knowledge of vehicle mechanics, but what really stuck with me was the effort he put into keeping his and my mother’s vehicles clean. I used to love going out on a Saturday morning to help my dad clean up the cars.
Fast forward a bit. I began washing vehicles for my friends, and neighbors as a teenager as my passion continued to grow. I loved the instant gratification. To this day, what I love the most is making people happy. As an adult, I struggled for years to find a career that I loved. I was fortunate having the jobs I did, but they never gave me that instant gratification. As I continued searching for the “perfect” job, I continued expanding my knowledge in detailing. It never even clicked in my mind until one day I realized, that my hobby/passion WAS the perfect job. It all became very clear when I remember my father telling me when I was young that “If you find a job you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”
I began doing my research on how to start a business. Throughout my research, I gathered enough information to feel comfortable enough to begin this new journey in my life. I got to where I am today by passing on my passion for this trade to my customers. It brings me a sense of nostalgia when I see the smiles on my customer’s faces after completing a job, just like my friends and neighbors did when I was a young teenager.
My wife, Holly, has been my biggest fan since day one. She continues to support me and is a huge reason why I’m where I am today. All of my customers have a major impact, and I am beyond thankful.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I started Mumford Auto Solutions in June of 2020, around the start of COVID. I worked full-time for another company, which made it pretty difficult to bring in customers in and of itself. However, I was thankful that I was still working, as many others weren’t as fortunate.
COVID was probably the biggest struggle I dealt with, and continue to somewhat deal with as a small business owner. The health of myself, my family, and others will always be my first priority.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I have lived in Raleigh almost all of my life until I recently moved a couple of miles outside of city limits. Raleigh is such an amazing city and I am blessed to have spent the majority of my life here. I think the best part of the city is the community itself. I’ve made so many connections in Raleigh, personal and business.
My biggest dislike about the city would be the traffic. I strive to make it on time to our mobile customers, but sometimes the traffic doesn’t allow it. Raleigh and its surrounding areas all continue to grow, so this is just something we all have to deal with. Luckily, this is something that is easy to adapt to.
