Today we’d like to introduce you to Kentrell Jackson.

Hi Kentrell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Supreme Finish Auto Detail is a proud African-American-owned business in Raleigh, NC. It started with a vision back in 2013 to open a business to provide customer service to meet the need of the growing Auto Detailing Industry. The business started with less than $3k for start-up capital. My first purchase was a Ford Astro Van bought from my father for just $300; the rest is history. It started as a mobile detailing service and later evolved into a full-blown detail shop in North Raleigh. The business grew over some time and later developed into multiple services related to Cosmetic and Reconditioning Auto Care. The shop was founded in Spring 2019 and quickly became a highly rated, buzz-worthy detail shop throughout North Carolina.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The detailing business is naturally a competitive industry. Constant competitors looking to charge lower or sometimes higher prices created a lot of grey areas in knowing how to price jobs and level of service. Often there was trial and error in identifying my customer base due to the thin line between gaining a reputation that can earn respectable pay scaling. The greatest challenge was identifying my company as a brand that gives the best quality of service while maintaining a profitable income worth the time spent doing the job. Over time and experience, I began to understand my market. I created a comprehensive solution for customers who need our services, but the reality is you don’t always win over everybody. However, in most cases, we do a good job of gaining and retaining customers. Appreciate you sharing that.

What should we know about Supreme Finish Auto Detail?
Supreme Finish offers multiple services related to Auto Reconditioning and Accessories. Our services include Auto Detailing, Window Tinting, Ceramic Coatings, Paint Correction, And Paint Protection Film. We have a One-Stop Shop concept where customers can come in a knowledgeable environment and have all the services done in one place. This saves our customers a lot of time, money, and headaches from dealing with multiple companies for Cosmetic needs. My staff and I take pride in every detail that goes into creating a finished product and great customer experience! Essentially that is what makes our brand stand out amongst the competition.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I was raised by a village of people and family members. My father is the person who inspired me to go into business for myself. He always used to say a “poor rat only has one hole to crawl in, lol,” meaning that you need to find multiple ways to make income because you never know when one thing will stop working for you. I also had a wonderful mother who believed in my vision and helped me with contributions when the business needed it the most. I come from a long line of entrepreneurship, starting with my Grandfather, who owned a local shoe repair business dating back to the 80’s up to the 2000s. Later during my Grandfather’s business career came along my Uncle around the ’90s era. He eventually took over the family business and then started a successful CPA Business of his own. Also, my father had a janitorial business for over 10 years, and I witnessed him start it from scratch. My Father, Grandfather, and Uncle all made me see the gratification of working for myself and the reward of being proud of hard work and determination.
