Hidden Gems: Meet Meg Schiffman of Farmside Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Schiffman.

Hi Meg, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We’re so grateful that you’re taking the time to help tell our story (and to your readers for reading about it!). We’re a team of obsessive restaurant folks who believed the world was missing a best-in-class, Americana-style grain bowl. So we decided to create one! Our goal is to provide enjoyable experiences for our guests through warm, welcoming service and delicious, wholesome food. We’re a woman-led organization with a culture designed to empower and support our team members and all guests in leading a life of wellbeing.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The pandemic threw us a pretty wild curveball, as it did the entire restaurant industry (and every human on the planet, for that matter). We used the time to do everything we could to make Farmside Kitchen really special and unique – from the menu to the restaurant design to our branding. The restaurant officially opened this year on April 1st, just as things were starting to look up from a “return to normal” perspective, and we feel very optimistic about the rest of the year.

We’ve been impressed with Farmside Kitchen, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We set out to do something different, inspired by nature and our commitment to crafting hearty, wholesome, nutritious food. We created the Farmbowl – a wholesome, nutrition-packed meal loaded with healthy grains, freshly grilled proteins and tons of vegetables – made with ingredients sourced from trusted local and regional farm partners. Each grain bowl, salad and side is thoughtfully crafted with combinations that feature craveable, Americana-style flavors and ingredients.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Our entire team spent endless hours perfecting our menu, experience and brand – and our team members are the ones who bring it to life each and every day. We have an incredibly supportive board with a tremendous amount of experience, and we rely on them to help us solve the bigger challenges and celebrate the exciting wins.
