Hidden Gems: Meet Nikki Speer of Snuggy Buddy Baby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Speer. Her and her team share their story with us below:

Snuggy Buddy was created by mom Susan Bortone, who struggled to help her kids safely sleep through the night. They both needed the comfort of holding a favorite soft toy, but it wasn’t safe to leave it in the crib.

After many sleepless nights and trying multiple products that didn’t meet her baby’s needs, she started designing. The first night her daughter used it, she slept through the night (12 hours!). She gave it to friends to try and they had the same success with getting their little ones to sleep better and the Snuggy Buddy was born.

She worked on the product for 2 years prior to launching to ensure we were putting out the best possible product. Snuggy Buddy launched in the Summer of 2020 – right at the peak of the pandemic! But we didn’t let that slow us down.

Nikki Speer has joined as Partner and CMO to help us get the word out and keep building on our amazing community and client base. She brings her own amazing experience as an entrepreneur and a mom to the table as well.

We have won a Mom’s Choice Gold Award, for products of safety and excellence. We have also been featured on Scary Mommy, The Every Mom, The Daily Mom, Tiny Beans, NBC, NY Weekly, and LA Wire to name a few as a go-to product for new parents.

We also have such an amazing and loyal fan base, with a 30% returning customer rate who travel with us from our 6-month to 12-month size. We actually just launched a toddler walker (it’s the cutest!) because they have asked for a product that can continue to grow with their little ones into the toddler years.

And… we have some other fun exciting things in store for Fall 2022!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Launching during Covid was a challenge. We have yet to do our first trade show or in-person event.

We are a small family-owned business. Nikki and Sue both work full-time as well, so juggling kids, work, and growing a business has limited us to how much we have been able to scale.

As parents creating this product we made sure to include all the things we needed in a product for our little one. Both with baby and parents in mind.
