Hidden Gems: Meet Rebecca Fillion of Fillion Notary & Apostille Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Fillion.

Hi Rebecca, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been the type to go above and beyond, pouring 1000% into everything I do but in the corporate world, that only equates to a pat on the back and if you’re lucky, a $0.25 annual raise. I felt unfulfilled, working as a post-closer in the mortgage industry and still living paycheck to paycheck, constantly stressed, and wondering if this was really all life had to offer. I knew I needed to do something bigger to give my two kids the life they deserve.

One night, I stumbled across mobile notary services on TikTok and it just made sense. With my attention to detail and background in real estate loan documents, it felt like a natural next step. After spending three years as a post-closer auditing files for errors, I saw an opportunity to become the notary ensuring every signing was executed flawlessly and started Fillion Notary & Apostille Services in March of 2023.

Fast forward to today, and what started as a leap of faith has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined. I’ve faced rejection, setbacks, and plenty of lessons along the way. Now, we’re a trusted notary public for law firms, business professionals, and our local community. What drives us isn’t just the work, it’s the purpose behind it. I get to be part of life-changing moments and build something meaningful that truly serves others.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has been a bumpy road with lots of sharp turns. There were seasons the phone didn’t ring, days I questioned everything, and moments where rejection hit harder than expected.

I had to battle imposter syndrome, learn to market myself, and rebuild my confidence after setbacks.

But, every obstacle taught me how to lead with resilience, get resourceful, build a strong referral network, and trust the vision even when results were slow.

Growth doesn’t happen on smooth roads. It’s built through grit, faith, and the decision to keep showing up!

We’ve been impressed with Fillion Notary & Apostille Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fillion Notary is a concierge-level mobile notary service based in the Greater Raleigh Triangle and surrounding areas. We specialize in estate planning, real estate transactions, and legal document signings, meeting our community exactly where they are.

We travel to homes, offices, local coffee shops, hospitals, assisted living facilities, wherever our services are needed.

We’re known for our reliability, professionalism, and our ability to execute documents without errors. It’s important to note, we cannot give legal advice or accept fees for legal advice.

What sets us apart is our service of heart. We don’t just stamp documents, we build relationships. Every signing is an opportunity to serve others and leave someone’s day better than we found it.

I’m most proud that our brand stands for integrity, community, and empowerment. We’ve become a go-to resource for attorneys, realtors, and families who need a trusted partner, not just a notary public.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe risk is where growth lives. Leaving a steady paycheck to start a mobile notary business towards the end of a pandemic was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken, but it was also the most powerful decision I’ve ever made.

Risk isn’t about recklessness, it’s about betting on yourself even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. Every great opportunity comes with uncertainty. But I’d rather take the leap than live with the regret of wondering ‘what if.’

One of the bigger risks I’ve made recently was expanding into apostille services. Apostille is the process of authenticating documents for legal use in other countries with the Secretary of State, making U.S. documents valid abroad.

It means stepping into a global space, navigating international document standards, and building trust beyond local borders. We also partner with Idiomatic to facilitate translation and interpretation services.
