Hidden Gems: Meet Rebecca Worlu-Ezeh of Becky’s Delight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Worlu-Ezeh.

Hi Rebecca, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always loved to bake. Growing up in Nigeria, I spent time visiting local markets and bringing home baked goods like meat pies and fish pies, then teaching myself how to recreate them. At just 11 years old, I convinced my father to loan me money so I could sell baked goods after school, which became my first experience with entrepreneurship.

Years later, in 2024, I was working as a nurse at the health department, a role I truly loved. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to step away, and during that time of rest I realized how overworked and stretched thin I had been. Baking became a creative outlet again, and one day I decided to try making cookies for the first time. Initially, it was a complete failure. Determined to succeed, especially for my son who loved chocolate chip cookies, I kept going until I finally got it right.

With encouragement from my family, I turned that passion into a business. Today, I pour the same care, intention, and love into my baking that I once gave to nursing. My hope is that every cookie brings joy, comfort, and a little healing to those who try them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a completely smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was grossly underestimating the importance of marketing and learning how to effectively put myself and my product out there. I quickly realized that having a great product is not enough if people do not know about it.

Another challenge has been understanding that passion and business are not always the same. While baking is something I deeply love, running a business requires structure, strategy, and consistency. Social media marketing has also been a learning curve, as it requires creativity, storytelling, and showing up in new ways.

At times, it can be discouraging to see others sell out week after week, but I remind myself how far I have come. I am grateful for the challenges, the growth, and the lessons they continue to teach me.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Becky’s Delight is a gourmet cookie brand specializing in freshly made, small-batch cookies crafted with care and intention. I focus on quality ingredients and thoughtful recipes that create cookies meant to feel familiar, comforting, and nostalgic.

What truly sets my brand apart is the heart behind each batch. Every cookie tells a story of resilience and the love I pour into my craft. I want anyone who tastes my cookies to be transported to a time in their life when they felt their happiest, most comforted, and most at home. I am most proud of building a brand rooted in authenticity, warmth, and connection, where each cookie is made with love and meant to bring joy.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
For me, risk-taking has meant choosing faith over certainty. One of my biggest risks was deciding not to immediately look for another job and instead focus fully on building my business. I also made a significant investment early on, purchasing a commercial-grade mixer that cost thousands of dollars before I had an established customer base. It was a decision rooted in faith rather than guarantees.

My view on risk is grounded in my relationship with God. I believe that when I move with prayer, intention, and trust, provision follows.
