Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Beard Kirkman.
Hi Robin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Before real estate, I spent years working in education, which taught me how to connect with people from all walks of life, communicate clearly, and function in chaos–all which turned out to be a great preparation for real estate.
I received my real estate license right before Covid, which in hindsight feels a little like learning to swim by being thrown directly into the ocean during a hurricane. But i built my business the same way I’ve approached most things in life: with heart, grit, determination, humor, and a willingness to work hard for people.
At my core though, I’ve always been a storyteller and writer. Writing is probably my greatest natural talent and the place where I feel most like myself. I love finding meaning in ordinary moments, telling stories that make people laugh or cry, or both, and capturing the beauty of small-town life in a a way that feels real.
I’ve never been very good at fitting into neat little boxes anyway. I’m equal parts small-town realtor, storyteller, community cheerleader, patriotic daughter, creative free spirit, and proud mom–and somehow all of those pieces ended up building a brand people genuinely connect with.
Whether I’m helping somebody buy a home, hosting a community event, writing late-night thoughts on social media, or making people laugh with real-life small-town moments, I’ve realized the common thread is connection. People want real.
And small-town life truly is home to me. I love Liberty, North Carolina–the backroads, front porch conversations, community events, and the way people still show up for each other. My love for community carries into everything that I do.
I am also deeply patriotic and incredibly passionate about supporting veterans. I am honored to work with Triad Honor Flight and coordinate the Welcome Home celebrations for veterans returning from their day of honor in Washington, DC. There’s something incredibly powerful about honoring people who have sacrificed so much for our country.
But above all else, my proudest accomplishment will always be my family. Having raised three amazing children (and now thanks to two of them getting married I am blessed with two “bonus” kids), no title, achievement, or business success could ever mean more to me than being their mom.
At the end of the day, I’m just a hometown girl who loves her family, loves people, loves stories, loves this country, and loves helping others find the perfect place to call home.
Life has taught me that people don’t connect with perfection. They connect with honesty, resilience, humor, and heart and people who are genuinely willing to show up as themselves. Whether in life, writing, community, or real estate, those are the things I try to bring into everything I do.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to fully step into who I am instead of who I thought I needed to be.
Real estate can sometimes feel like a world full of polished perfection–perfect branding, perfect homes, perfect social media feeds, perfect lives. For a while,, I felt pressure to fit into that mold instead of simply being myself. Over time though, I realized my authenticity was actually my greatest strength.
I used to think of myself as a round peg trying to fit into a square hole. I’m naturally more Type B in a very Type A world–creative, energetic, a little all over the place at times, and definitely not cookie-cutter. But once I learned how to harness that quirky personality instead of fighting against it, it became one of my biggest strengths.
It made me a more creative thinker, a better problem solver, and a stronger advocate for my clients. Real estate isn’t always about having the most polished script–often times it is about thinking outside the box, staying calm in stressful situations, finding solutions other people overlook, and fiercely protecting the people who trust you during major life decisions.
Starting my real estate career right before COVID came with its own challenges too. The market shifted constantly, inventory became difficult, interest rates bounced all over the place, and uncertainty became the norm. But it taught me how to adapt quickly, communicate well under pressure, and truly advocate for my clients during emotional and high-stakes situations.
Life also has a way of handing you unexpected chapters. Learning how to personally start over and reinvent myself at this stage of life has stretched me in ways I never anticipated, but has taught me resilience, confidence, and the importance of staying true to who you are.
Balancing entrepreneurship, motherhood, community involvement, and everyday life hasn’t always been easy. But being mom to incredible kids while building a business I believe in and a life I genuinely love has also been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of Robin Beard Real Estate. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Robin Beard Real Estate was built around relationships, authenticity, community and genuinely putting people first. I primarily serve clients throughout Randolph, Guilford and Alamance counties, helping both buyers and sellers navigate some of the biggest and most emotional decisions of their lives.
While my business has its own personality and brand, I’m incredibly thankful to work under the umbrella of All About You Realty, LLC. From the beginning it felt like the right fit because our values align so naturally. We both believe real estate should be relationship-driven, community-focused, and rooted in integrity rather than just transactions.
One of the things I appreciate the most about the All About You Realty firm is the support, encouragement, and freedom to truly build a business that reflects who I am. I’ve never wanted to be a cookie-cutter agent and being surrounded by people who value authenticity and truly care about clients has made a huge difference in my growth both personally and professionally.
I love helping people find not just a house, but a place that feels like home. Whether I’m working with first-time buyers, families starting over, people relocating, or longtime locals, I try to bring honesty, creativity, humor and heart into every interaction.
Beyond real estate itself, I also love supporting local businesses, hosting community events, and telling the stories that make small-town life so special. Around here, relationships still matter and that’s the foundation of everything I try to do.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I truly believe you can learn something valuable from almost every person you meet if you’re willing to listen and pay attention.
Some of the best lessons I’ve learned didn’t come from formal mentorship at all. They came from watching hardworking people quietly show up every day with integrity, resilience, humor, and compassion. I’ve learned from educators, business owners, my own clients, my kids, veterans, friends, and even complete strangers who crossed my path at the right moment in life.
My parents have probably shaped me more than anyone. They have taught me resilience, humility, work ethic, the importance of roots, and how to keep going. Watching the way they both have carried themselves through challenges and successes taught me lessons no classroom ever could.
I also think mentorship looks a lot different than sometimes people expect. Sometimes it’s a conversation. Sometimes it’s an example. Sometimes it’s a hard lesson you didn’t want but needed anyway.
I’ve been very fortunate to work alongside people in real estate and in my community who genuinely value relationships over transactions and people over appearances. Those are the kind of people I naturally gravitate toward because that’s the kind of buisness and life I am building too.
At the end of the day, I think one of the greatest gifts in life is to stay curious about people and never to believe you’re above learning from them. Every person carries a story, a lesson, a perspective, or a strength that I may not have yet. The older I get, the more I realize growth doesn’t come from having all the answers-it comes from staying humble enough to keep listening.
